Last time I looked at it, koush superuser, both official flashable zip and apk from play store, fail to detect the phone as x86 and therefore installs the wrong su for arm instead. This is why it unroots.

Install the repackaged zip instead.
what repackaged zip? do you mean this:
Manual installation with the recovery zip:
Recommended if you are having installation issues or are not rooted
http://download.clockworkmod.com/superuser/superuser.zip

it didn'nt work for me, installed but no root.

No: the one you pointed to is the official recovery zip package. The CPU detection does not work on the Razr i, and this will unroot your device by wrongly installing the arm su package.

You can repackage it easily yourself, or if you are unsure on how to do it, I believe there is a repackaged version a few posts back http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38797391&postcount=38 - please check it first though, as I have not used it myself.

thank you for information
found the package, but it's also outdated, because superuser was updated 12.march (so the repackaged package will also ask for update).

To update it yourself to the latest version:

1. download the official zip package from the link in the google play store description
2. extract Superuser.apk and the correct su from that package
3. open the outdated modded zip (do not extract) in your zip manager
4. update both Superuser.apk and su in the zip manager, with the files you extracted

thanks for your advice, but superuser had an update yesterday which solved the problem. superuser is now running fine on razr i (and other x86 i believe).

just for the record, the update of 'superuser' apk from play store works fine (yesterday 17-03-2013), I mean, you don't need to do nothing extra, just update the original (from the Root .zip of this thread) from play store.

so if you got a message for update 'su' do it, works fine.

Hi all ;)

My ROM is Mattlgroff's homemade fastboot "91.2.26001.Retail.en.EU - 4.1.2", so it is rooted by default.

Many of my installed applications are able to obtain root access : tasker, widgetstoid, Voltage Control, MyBackup Pro, etc ... and work fine.

But I can't find a File Manager that is able to gain and use root access.
I've tried : FX, ES, Solid.
When I enable the root access, "root permission popup" is correctly triggered, I accept, and application is listed in SuperUser as "root granted".
But after that the application itself cannot access root protected folders or remount anything in the FS.

Is it a know issue with x86 SU and 4.1 ROM (because it worked fine with Anrdoid 4.0) ?
Is it that my ROM has somehow been screwed up and has to be reinstalled ?
How can I fix that ?

Tks ;)

PS1 : I've tried to install SuperSU, but symptoms are the same.

Your Data won't get touched, so it's no big deal to flash the Homemade again. You even can only flash the System Partition.
Wipe Cache and Dalvik after that and flash the root.
