Fresh news from the battlefield :

Shabbypenguin pushed out a fully working version (including SDcard) of Unofficial CWM custom recovery for MotoG LTE.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/4g-development/recovery-unofficial-cwm-6-0-5-0-t2818161

This version is flashable so you don't even need to connect your phone to your computer for a sdcard working custom recovery now.
Reported working for XT1040 and XT1039.

His topic also includes rooting informations.

Thanks to him and the ones who could test it.

May I ask..why are you returning your XT1045.?

You can flash back to stock..but their is no way to ever go back 100% "out of the box" because unlocking writes a code that cannot be removed..sorry

Trying to describe how the Factory ROM works is a little complicated. My suggestion is to read the link on Motorola's support on how the SDCard is used: https://forums.motorola.com/posts/7e59cc7baf

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

If not, can we use the regular Moto G ROM's like for the 1033 and such?
No you shouldn't use ROMs that are specifically for the Falcon (name for the GSM Moto G). There are enough things different particularly the on the radio side of things, that it won't work and may even be dangerous for your phone.

There are Vietnamese are however a couple of ROMs that are built for the Moto G LTE, a CyanogenMod 11 and a SlimRoms both released by shabbypenguin. If you look around you will find them.

move to SD card greyed out

Hi, I am on stock everything which let's me move apps to my SD card. I went into dev options and changed runtime to Art and the move to SD card button was greyed out. Changed back to Dalvik and move to SD button is restored. Anyone know why this should be cos with only 8 GB storage the SD card is kind of important.

If you mean this card http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00J29D62Y? I bought the same and it works fine on my XT1039 running 4.4.3. Evo 32GB UHS-I class 10.

Still haven't received the 4.4.4 update on my XT1039, has anyone in the UK got it yet?

Amendment to Q1: What are Moto G 4G/LTE tech specs?

XT1039: Moto 4G/LTE - 8GB/16GB (Retail UK/EU)
XT1040: Moto 4G/LTE - 8GB/16GB (Retail Brazil/Canada)
XT1042: Moto 4G/LTE - 8GB/16GB (US Cellular)
XT1045: Moto 4G/LTE - 8GB/16GB (Retail US)

All seem to be Single SIM - is a Dual SIM model still to be announced?

Do you have a source for that information? AFAIK only the original Moto G is available in both 8GB and 16GB versions. All the 4G/LTE variants are 8GB only, as Motorola deemed this to be sufficient since they've added a MicroSD slot. The Brazilian one seems to be available as a dual sim version.
