Hi guys, I just got my Moto G this morning and now I was trying to unlock the bootloader. Looks like there's something running uncorrectly with Motorola bootloader-unlocking webpage, as I copied the string and the button appeared, but after clicking it, the page went blank and asked for confirmation to request a key. Still, no email has arrived to my Gmail account.
It looks pretty strange, this should be an automatic process, so the email should have arrived pretty soon. At this point, I guess I'll wait until tomorrow morning and see if the mail is there or, in case, I'll request again the key...

EDIT: I tried again half an hour later and this time the procedure worked correctly! Maybe they were just having some server overload! ;)

okay... I've spent my past 3 years on the Samsung side and *gasp* have never used ADB or fastboot for anything. Built some stock based roms and did mods using all the standby apk modding tools but I am still not quite sure about adb and fastboot. Just never had to use them doing anything on the Sammy side.

Seems easy enough but I've got a few questions. Okay so I see references to a motorola fastboot that is different from the normal fastboot. All the mod or tutorials just give normal fastboot commands so can I just use the fastboot that comes with the slimed down ADB ? Can I just use Koush's universal driver (or is the moto g not included) ? I read somewhere to add it to a script, I'll assume this means with notepad++ ? not too sure on this one.

This might sound dumb but is fastboot the same as entering download mode on Samsung phones

Also...what's with reviewers saying the back cover is hard to get off the phone... it's as if they have weak fingers and have only used an iPhone so they've never had to take a back cover off a phone before.?
I have a Samsung as well but I am not that new to Motorola like you said. But mind you, I don't have a Moto G either. (I am here on this forum because its not that well supported and not many developers yet.)

So I will try to translate moto-speak to sammy-speak.

Too bad we don't have a Odin here oh well. Don't think you can make one here. Both Fastboot on Moto and Downloading on Samsung are Bootloaders. They both mean the same and do the same thing. To my knowledge, there's nothing different between the "normal" Fastboot and Moto Fastboot. I do believe the Fastboot command of Slimmed down ADB will do fine. When the device is connected to Windoz, in Fastboot mode, you need special drivers for windoz to recognize it. Yes they do exist for Moto G.

No Clue what you meant by Notepad++

Thanks for the clarifications. I knew you were on the moto x side and was wondering if you'd heard of that mfastboot or the like ha.

Someone had mentioned adding the moto g device to koush's universal adb driver using a text editor I.e notepad++.

I hope this is right section for my question.

Is there any list of Motorola system app that can be deleted?
I didn't find It in the forum.

Hi there. Just curious, using the root method described here, is it still possible to receive OTA updates? If I understand correctly, at least it is this way on Nexus devices, if you still have the stock recovery then you can receive OTA updates even while being rooted. You have to root again after each OTA of course, but that's no problem.

Yes I believe you will get OTA despite being rooted. Key thing is to keep stock everything.

You can use OTA Rootkeeper from Play Store and keep the root across updates.

hi!
i have a moto g on kitkat. i upgraded it via OTA. my device also have a locked bootloader and never been rooted before.
here's my question:

1.) is it possible to root my device on my current state? (with official kitkat rom via ota) if yes, how? or must i downgrade first to JB? if yes, how?
2.) is it possible to install a custom recovery with my current state without downgrading to JB? if yes, how?

thanks.

Hi I rooted my moto g yesterday and tested the infusion ROM. I wasn't a huge fan of the ROM so I flashed back to my stock, rooted backup and now I have a couple of problems:

1) under Settings- Storage its says that my total available space is 5.52gb, my currently available storage is 2.06gb but my apps (571mb), pictures (332kb), Audio (168kb), downloads (234mb) and cache (1.92mb) don't equal ~3.4gb. What can I do to fix this?

2) since rooting or flashing infusion (not sure which one, didn't test between) my camera gives me the message "your internal storage is running out of space...." When I try to take a picture.
