Bought a TB yesterday....love my fascinate and all of the great devs, and I will keep my fascinate to play with, but plainly put Samsungs cesspool of software totally ****** up a phone that still to this day has amazing hardware....
PS...I already miss the super amoled screen :( but the overall product is 10x better...the TB just works...

And yes I'm typing this on my fassy while my TB charges :)

We want a bloated Froyo so that we can get source code! That's what has been holding us back with development! I'm so sick of all these empty promises. "You'll get Froyo in September. No wait, November." "Er, we meant, before the end of 2010!" And as 2011 began, "it's coming soon!" 3 months later, it's the same empty promise of soon, so they send John to post here and attempt to keep us at bay. Samsung can shove it. It's completely unacceptable, and I am so tempted to submit this to the Better Business Bureau. We can't even use accessories that we purchased a long time ago, because we still don't have 2.2. This phone should go EOL and we should get free Tbolts, as someone said earlier. These are unacceptable practices, and I'm pissed about it. I don't know how Samsung is getting away with it.
Or a free Galaxy S 2 as a replacement(with no contract extension) instead.

EDIT: I'm submitting a complaint to the BBB right now, and everyone here should do the same.

With Samsung, it appears to be one jerk job after another. By the time they roll out 2.2, a lot of us will be ready for another upgrade, and guess what, we're going to think long and hard about buying another Samsung product. I like my Fascinate, but only because we have the leaked 2.2. If I was still on 2.1, I'd most likely be using a different phone by now.
Think long and hard about buying a samsung product? I'm thinking long and hard about dropping big red. If LTE wasn't the future I would have probably left already. Monopoly, thats what its called, and big red knows it. Why be good when you are bigger than the other guys. AT&T has only survived this long because of the iphone.

Its just wrong, its like when you come home from school one day and your parents tell you your dog ran away but he'll probably come back. So you sit outside waiting with his empty leash in your hand and you walk up and down the block called his name but he never comes back. And your parents keep saying he'll show up soon, but they know [email protected] well that your dog got hit by a car and he's dead.

While Samsung's support has been beyond disappointing, and really convinced me not to buy their products in the future (I chose a laptop last week and did not consider Samsung models that came up), taking it out on SamsungJohn is not really appropriate. Unless it can be proven that he's had full control on whether to release Froyo all along, it's not his bag.

I'd be interested in some show of support from Samsung in the form of replacement phones, or Gingerbread nao, but honestly, it would have to be some shock and awe type stuff to change my mind at this point. The phone is hobbled, compared to what it ought to be.

Nobody is taking anything out on SamsungJohn, he's probably just some PR guy doing what he's told, but since he posted here and decided not to take comments I took the liberty of opening a rant/complaint/opinion thread for me and others to vent. I am fully aware that no matter how many people complain it will most likely have no impact on samsung or verizon and I doubt they have any intentions of trying to win us back.

SamsungJohn posted and locked and stickied his thread because it is simply an announcement, and not meant for discussion. 2.2 is coming AT SOME POINT, but we do not know when.

On that note, this thread adds nothing except further discussion that 2.2 is taking forever and is redundant so...

SHIELDS UP!
RED ALERT!
Thread closed.
