where can we find rom developers? Not guys who just want free phones and do little to nothing.
Well I guess it'd be worth around 35-40 bucks in its current state. Sell it, keep it or hell even give it to a ROM developer such as texasice.

Are you sure there isn't any better phone in the same price range? I mean, Nexus One is an OK phone, but it's bettet to put more money on a phone that doesn't have the obvious flaws of the N1.

The nexus one is an awesome phone, it's htc and not loaded with crappy sense, it means that comes with aosp, so we have aosp kernels and roms straight from google. The galaxy nexus is to expensive, plus it's plastic, as the nexus s, samsung has a good hardware but they are soap dishes. N1 has teflon and metal coating and with the corning glass its nearly indestructible, and its has a hardware to run nearly everything you throw at it. And the trackball is priceless.
My bro has a pyramid, its a good phone for sense. But theres no aosp experience cause they dont have the kernel, he is running cm7.1 kang (yes only kang exists) they have no hardware acceleration, my n1 beats that twocored monster.
If you are not a gamer, than you wont notice the multitouch problems, as the matter of fact i never noticed it.
So yes, the N1 is still a good phone, and it's worth to buy. For me there's no better phone in the market right now, maybe the Atrix 4G.

I don't have much money to work with anyways and on eBay it goes around for 80-110 bucks, which fits my budget.
I am not much of a gamer, on my iPhone the only multitouch game I have is Street Figher IV (as is left thumb on buttons and right thumb on other buttons) and all the other games are one touch (if that is what you call it) Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, Where's my Water, Football Manager Handheld and etc all one touch.
So gaming is not my major concern, I just want a smartphone that does my calling and texting, where I can read my ebooks, watch some videos, listen to music, browse the web and etc.
Yes, i meant multitouch games, my friend has a hd2, so when i say gamer i mean "gamer"

As i said, really like my phone, the size is perfect, it is not plastic, the hardware is old but enough, we have a bounch of aosp roms, kernels, stable as hell.

The other obvious problem he was referring to was the power button that stops working...

I had mine fixed under warranty twice in it's first year... (before rooting and installing a rom..) now since it's got a rom, I barely ever use the power button since you may unlock the screen using the trackball or volume button (thank goodness for that!)
Dont get me wrong, it's a great phone, great finishing too, but the hassles of the power button would make me think twice about getting another one...

I've had the N1 since launch 2 years ago & still never faced the power button issue. I never even took any precautions to prevent it. I've upgraded to Galaxy Nexus and sadly passed down the N1 to my gf. Running MIUI for the eye-candy factor & she thinks it's the best phone ever made. haha.
While shopping between phone providors, at first I upgraded to the SGS2, & didn't notice much of an upgrade from the N1. So that speaks highly of the 2 year old phone's performance & build.

Got my N1 more than a year ago, and I'm still happy to play with. Broken power button, too, but still enjoy flashing "any" rom. Yeah, actually it's not my primary phone, just sort of gun with which I can learn more and more about android. Love it in every pieces coz it rocks till today...

Got my N1 just 2 weeks after it came out, that’s basically 2 years ago, and I haven’t had any issues with it. Everything is working as it should, no power button problems, and still using the original battery and can get over 37 hours from it. No root and have latest OTA update. So the only known issue that pops up from time to time is the touch screen unresponsiveness, and the lack of pinch&zoom pictures from Gallery, thanks to latest update. Just been lazy to root and fix that. I’ve compared to other phones I’ve got for the family like LG Optimus-T, two My Touch 4G and recently a Samsung Exhibit II 4G (just to be able to use it when I’m roaming or using a local SIM aboard and be able to connect to 3G/4G as it has all data bands). All for free from T-Mob due to my extreme loyalty to them; still I carry both my N1(with Simple Mobile) and MyTouch 4G, and I use 99% of the time the N1. It just feels good and I like how it performs. Sadly tough, I guess it’s time to move on and get the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus, although I’m not sure if it will be a big step forward, just because of ICS is incorporated in it. My teen daughter is just waiting to inherit my N1, but I think I’ll just give her my HTC Glacier, and keep the N1. So in few words, it’s still a great phone!
