Hi everyone! I will be buying a new phone in a couple of days and was considering the Xperia S as an option. I've been reading this forum as well as some reviews and comments in other forums and blogs, and I've come across very conflicting opinions, so I would like to know if you, as owners, would recommend it.

Before you ask, this is the only Xperia phone available in my country right now, and the other two options I'm considering are the Galaxy Nexus and the S2. As you can see, I'm not looking for the latest most powerfull smartphone but rather a reliable device with a healthy development community (also, there aren't many other powerful smartphones available here but that's a whole different issue).

I currently own a Motorola Defy, which is a very reliable phone, and has a great development community (everything working in CM10!). This has been particularly important for me as the people that own the Defy are very enthusiastic about it, and there's a still a lot going on even almost two years after it's release. I think the Xperia S might be a great choice because of the decent hardware hardware, form and size (galaxy S3 feels too big in my hand), but specially because of its unlockable bootloader and the possibilities that it represents (I'm not really expecting to keep the stock firmware for long).

So, do you think the Xperia S might be a good choice, or would you say I should look into my other options?

Simple lags, not very smooth ui is only problem. Also google is now testing aosp support for xperia s so it could have a very good future. If VERY good hardware is not your choice, then you won't regret buying xps. Although it does simple daily usage very good and you may not notice lags until you are expecting a perfect mobile.

Simple, if you don't care about internal memory and want the latest android OS faster and can't wait for it, go for nexus series.
If you want a whooping display and a good camera with good looks, go for XPS.. XPS is relatively new so not a very broad support but its more than enough has a good android future. You won't regret buying any of these..:good:

As far as the lag is concerned, its not there in my device, few users complain about it but i never experienced it, except for the stock contact app, which i don't use :cowboy:

Toss a coin , and leave s2 out of it , xperia S has 720p res on its 4.3 , s2 has 800x460 , the xperia S's screen is way way more detailed , and 720p displays are whats new these days :good:

My brothers have the Samsung S2, and I can tell you that the Xperia S is MUCH better!

The Xperia S is an EXCELLENT phone, the only con is that I'm just disappointed with it's camera. I came from a Galaxy Note.
