Hello, a friend asked me to help him recover his wife's photo data (if possible) from her old phone, a Moto G 2015 (Motorola xt1548). She's already upgraded phone's but they'd like to recover her photos/videos. I have the phone, and as far as I can tell its running the default Motorola software--i.e., it was never rooted, nor has an alternate ROM.
It seems to be stuck in a boot loop, where it starts with the blue Motorola "M" logo and Android beneath on a white screen, then the globe animates, then displays an "Android is starting... Optimizing app 'n' of 47", then finally lands on a black blank screen with the Android buttons at the bottom. After a minute or so, it starts again. I've searched the xda forum threads and haven't found another relevant thread.
I'm running a Debian GNU/Linux system, but neither adb nor fastboot see the phone. I also can't see the phone as a USB device via ls /dev/sd* or via lsblk. I'd thought of using dd to try and copy the phone's filesystem to get the photos, but I can't see the device.
Any ideas or suggestions from those more familiar with this phone would be appreciated. Thanks!
