Recovering instead of dual boot

Hey all, i was wondering if i could just make a recovery of the two roms i wanna use, and keep them there, and whenever i wanna switch i can just wipe, then use the other recovery, do the same thing over and over, instead of installing the multi boot patcher, it seems like alot of work, is it harmful? or do you recommend another way? thanks. by the way, i heard the multi boot now supports 8.1 roms, i want to flash Reserruction Remix 6.0.0 (8.1) and Resurrection Remix 5.8.5 (7.1.2)

By recovery i mean make a backup in TWRP
