Currenty using android 13 aosp base rom, Pixel Experiencie A13.
Usint last twrp 3.7.0_12 on finish backup said error:
create tar fork () process ended with error = 255
In previous versions (A12 Miui) it was solved by erasing /data /extm or deactivating the extended memory, but in the AOSP ROM (Pixel Experiencie A13 version) I did not find a way to deactivate it and that folder does not exist.
Any idea?

Hello, I'm new to android > 11 and Xiaomi phones. Can you tell me the proper way to :
  • backup my data (encrypted or not ?)
  • restore it later on the same preinstalled ROM
I'm quite used to install ROMs, test them, replace them, and all of that with TWRP, but with Xiaomi phones I seem to have 2 main issues :
  • system partition not visible (it seems that the right way to "restore" is to install ROM through zip and then restore data)
  • data partition encrypted and restore does not work for me yet (I have also a work profile, perhaps I should remove it before backing it up...?)

Thanks for your advice

i tried the instructions on TWRP website but i'm stucked at "waiting for any device" line on CMD screenshot and the phone is fastbootd mode for more than 20 mins. bootloader is unlocked and didn't applied any ROM updates so it's still with the package OS. I have universal ADB drivers installed.

EDIT: it worked now, all i had to do is update the offical ROM to the latest release.

After flashing TWRP and rebooting to the recovery as stated on their website, the custom recovery is replaced by the stock one. I'm using twrp-3.7.0_12-0-sweet.img

Ok, so you need to flash twrp, reboot to twrp, then flash a custom ROM. If you reboot into the stock ROM, the custom recovery is overwritten with the stock recovery.

I see you're trying to flash Arrow 12, and failing. Maybe you need to update the firmware before you do anything.
i did rebooot to twrp, after that i flashed the rom following @SaulPanzer steps in ArrowOS thread but getting error. Also before i did all this i updated the offical ROM to the latest release (MIUI13 i think).

I still can't get to install TWRP, right after "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" i rebooted the phone with POWER+VOLUMEUP buttons aand entered TWRP, have all the functions, rebooted the recovery a second time to make sure that ****ing script works. After that when rebooting the system and rebooting back to recovery i found out TWRP is no longer present. this is getting ridiculous, idk what's happening.

As I wrote a couple of messages back:
"If you reboot into the stock ROM, the custom recovery is overwritten with the stock recovery."
Yeah thanks. I managed to get it to work by flashing ArrowOS11 first then ArrowOS12. No idea why ArrowOS12 didnt work in the fisrt place, i'll report to them.

I have no problem flashing A12 rom (with data decrypted) and backing up "data" using TWRP-3.6.2-sweet-20-06-22.img but restoring the "data" always end up in bootloop. Any one has success restoring data with this twrp?
Same problem bootlooping after restoring data with twrp 3.7.0_12-sweet. So for me Nandroid restore is unusable for the moment with twrp:cry:

Ask an developer like @Pulkit Agarwal
I am currently building a kernel with focaltech drivers, after I build the kernel I will install it and write back here if it works

    Introduction:

Team Win Recovery Project or TWRP for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. We started from the ground up by taking AOSP recovery and loading it with the standard recovery options, then added a lot of our own features. It's a fully touch driven user interface , no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

    Key Features:

Touchscreen driven with real buttons and drag-to-scroll
XML-based GUI that allows full customization of the layout true theming!
Settings are saved to the sdcard and persist through reboots
Ability to choose which partitions to back up and which to restore
Ability to choose to compress backups now with pigz (multi-core processor support for faster compression times)
    Onscreen keyboard
    Easy selection of internal/external storage

In addition to the above new features, TWRP features a scripting engine that allows an app to send commands to the recovery for the recovery to perform during startup. We call this scripting engine OpenRecoveryScript. This engine will be put to use immediately in the GooManager app. GooManager will be able to install recoveries automatically for most supported devices. The app will also let you choose to install multiple zips from within Android, wipe, and run a backup.

We are looking for other talented developers, themers, and device maintainers if they are interested in helping with a free, open source project.

If you have made your own TWRP build for an unsupported device, please let us know. We might add your build to the list of unofficial builds. Bear in mind that we are working hard to add more devices and we may add your device to our official build list later.
