Hi samsungics1200,
thanks for sharing your modified TWRP derived from Nebrassy's TWRP. Did you also modify Nebrassy's updated version 03-07-22? How did you accomplish to modify twrp.flags? I tried it myself using abootimg. But it failed, my builds didn't boot.

Edit: I noticed that samsungics1200's recovery img also only starts when bootet via fastboot boot twrp.img but not when flashed into device.
I solved the problem using Android Image Kitchen. At first same behaviour. But then after un-/repackimg I added an AVBv2 signature using avbtool. Now also the flashed recovery image boots fine. It looks like the Poco X3 Pro bootloader only accepts signed images.

Sorry if this question sounds silly and also if I'm in the wrong thread.
But will a device still boot into system If I flash an imcompatible custom recovery ?

From my experience: yes. As long as the bootloader (fastboot mode) is intact, and this was always the case with my three devices I had so far. In one case it was necessary to boot a valid recovery through fastboot boot once and start the system from there.

Can't make backup of data partition (createTarFork() error 255). MIUI 13.0.5 by xiaomi.eu, lockscreen type: pattern, phone is encrypted. TWRP 3.7.0_12.0 official.

Edit: can't attach logs.
Edit 2: put them into an archive, they are visible now.

System boot prob after restore

Lineage19 A12, Magisk 25.2 rooted, no pin, Twrp off. 3.7.0_12.0. Firmware V13.0.4.0.SJUMIXM

Backup of data, boot & supersystem ran without errors, so did restore. But system boot ends in dark screen after a while of lineage boot logo, then restarts into twrp recovery.

Found data encrypted and not mounted. Mounting asks for password, but, as i said, backup was without any pin or pw, so i couldn't decrypt & mount.

Switched to latest unoff TWRP-3.6.2-vayu-10-09-22.img, same result.

Someone with an idea? Thanx in advance.

I would try entering some PIN or unlock pattern you used previously for unlocking your phone.

Could also flash orangefox recovery in twrp but I think you would still face same issue.

Hopefully someone can offer you better advice, good luck

The solution in many cases is..... patience. Although with black screen i see no activity, there is one. Guess it has to do with decrypting. So just wait, until phone restarts system itself. No pressure on any button meanwhile, it's not standby mode that causes dark :)

I have installed official twrp-3.7.0_12-0-vayu.img only to find it doesn't support A11 (LOS 18.1). It can't decrypt data. I skipped decryption and flashed old version from SD. This works, but I lost BT functionality. Log shows, that some bluetooth database is missing.

Hello,
I would like to upgrade to the latest version of MIUI. I am currently still on Android 11 and I have read that to upgrade you need to have TWRP updated but the twrp-3.7.0_12-0-vayu version does not decrypt Android 11 data.

Can I upgrade from Android 11 to Android 12 with twrp-3.6.2_11-0-vayu since it does decrypt A11 data?

Or do I need an unofficial TWRP? Thank you very much

    Introduction:

Team Win Recovery Project or TWRP for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. We started from the ground up by taking AOSP recovery and loading it with the standard recovery options, then added a lot of our own features. It's a fully touch driven user interface , no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

    Key Features:

Touchscreen driven with real buttons and drag-to-scroll
XML-based GUI that allows full customization of the layout true theming!
Settings are saved to the sdcard and persist through reboots
Ability to choose which partitions to back up and which to restore
Ability to choose to compress backups now with pigz (multi-core processor support for faster compression times)
    Onscreen keyboard
    Easy selection of internal/external storage

In addition to the above new features, TWRP features a scripting engine that allows an app to send commands to the recovery for the recovery to perform during startup. We call this scripting engine OpenRecoveryScript. This engine will be put to use immediately in the GooManager app. GooManager will be able to install recoveries automatically for most supported devices. The app will also let you choose to install multiple zips from within Android, wipe, and run a backup.

We are looking for other talented developers, themers, and device maintainers if they are interested in helping with a free, open source project.

If you have made your own TWRP build for an unsupported device, please let us know. We might add your build to the list of unofficial builds. Bear in mind that we are working hard to add more devices and we may add your device to our official build list later.
