On my POCO F3 with november system update, when I boot twrp-3.7.0_12-0-alioth it doesn't ask for data unlock pattern. I had to go back to twrp-3.6.2-alioth-Nebrassy-03-07-22 to be able to access sdcard.

i am pretty confused, is this step necessary:

cause here AVB is not mentioned, what is correct?
Those instructions are pretty generic. Why don't you just follow the OP's instructions...

Installation:
1. fastboot boot twrp.img
2. go to Advanced > Flash Current TWRP
3. after that is done, if you were using a custom kernel, reflash it now
4. if you were using magisk, reflash it now
Updating to a newer build:
1. download new build to internal storage
2. go to Advanced > Install Recovery Ramdisk
3. select the new image
4. after that is done, if you were using a custom kernel, reflash it now
5. if you were using magisk, reflash it now

fastboot boot recovery.img doesn't boot into recovery, just black screen. I tried orangefox too with same result. Any help would be appreciated.

Thx a lot for your answer but that version of twrp didn't work either. I'm thinking of getting back to previous ver of the rom which apparentely allowed to flash the cust recovery.

Opps it is!!. There is a vendor_boot recovery on their download section. Fortunately, my phone is still alive. Thx a lot for the warning.
