Just log in with a mi account and DON'T log out after you've got the "wait for 168 hours" message.

You can use your phone normally during those 7 days(168 hours). And don't forget to bind the device to that mi account by going into developer options and click "Mi Unlock Status", then "Add this device".

The other methods that worked in the past, to unlock the bootloader without any wait time have since been patched by Xiaomi. Believe me, I tried. I finally resigned to waiting, and then simply unlocked it after 7 awful days of using the piece of garbage that Miui is

That's awful because it's been more than 7 days since I tried but I changed accounts before trying again :/ what about creating a new account? Because that's what I did and didn't worked

As soon as you change your account, the timer for your previous account resets. Atleast, that's what happened to me.

I just stuck to my second account, and waited it out. And it worked

Edit: btw I did all this on Miui 11. Didn't update cause my cousin was facing many bugs. Purchased this phone just 2 weeks ago.

Hi, I am unable to format my internal storage. I am coming from the latest joyeuse EEA rom 12.
I am getting multiple errors.

I tried relocking the device, flashing stock rom again via fastbook, format data, repair /data, format /data to ex2 and then ex4
ADB Sideload is also not working

Has anybody an idea why it isnt working?

On the first page you can read why.
Adb sideload doesn't work.
Install LineageOS recovery and sideload whatever you want.

the latest version of this twrp is completely non functional; literally cannot get any files onto the phone (adb push just hangs, cannot drag and drop zip files to phone because despite mtp being enabled, windows for some reason does not recognize it).

Also, for some reason, only the data and cache partitions are mounted with everyone other partition not mounted which means roms cannot be flashed

notice how in the above picture windows does not display the total storage sizes of the phone

We both know what's the stakes there since the first page has already mentioned that adb sideload is currently broken.

Hopefully, next twrp 3.5.0 with A10 tree that has been annouce recently could fix this.

Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or twrp3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
*
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
*
*/

Features:
- Decryption works
- Otg works
- Flash Rom works
- F2FS support
- Fastboot boot command support

Not working:
- Fastbootd
- Adb sideload
- Backup restore and image flash (system-vendor-product)

Download:
TWRP 3.4.0-14 Unofficial by mauronofrio

TWRP 3.4.0-11 Unofficial by mauronofrio

TWRP 3.4.0-0 Unofficial by mauronofrio

To Flash the TWRP:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.3.1-xx-xxxxxx-mauronofrio.img
Then reboot in TWRP manually or using a fastboot command.
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-3.3.1-xx-xxxxxx-mauronofrio.img
or
Code:
fastboot oem reboot-recovery
REMEMBER: is important that from fastboot you directly go in TWRP mode or the TWRP will be overwritten.

Reccomended ADB and Fastboot binaries:

Adb and Fastboot Installer

9 times out of 10 it's because people haven't left "data" on and tried to use WiFi. Also double check you have logged into their mi account on the phone itself - please search XDA for the equivalent thread/guides though because this is a TWRP thread. Thanks

I have a similar problem with another user: I flashed the latest TWRP with LeddaZ's LineageOS ROM and /data in the internal sdcard is encrypted, so I can't flash anything unless I use the external SD card. I tried to format data and reboot to recovery as mentioned elsewhere but it didn't work. Any suggestions? AFAIK LineageOS is encrypted by default? Is this the ROM's or the recovery's fault?

Install LineageOS recovery and sideload the ROM from your PC.
That way you don't need to transfer the ROM to the phone first.
Sideloading doesn't work with TWRP.

You need to enable the device location stuff in the settings of the phone. I can't remember what else I had to set this up but there are plenty of sources that explain these extra steps.

Hi,

tried to use your recovery. Unfortunately, the display repeats turning on and off just for a second.
I experienced it in past already in a different recovery. It's related to the display i think because xiaomi installed different displays in the same phone-series.

kind regards

Just wondering, does this recovery support decryption using a pattern? I have PBR installed ATM, and have tried older versions of TWRP and OFR but it seems like they all will only ask for a password when trying to decrypt data...

..hat guide is for android 6, would be surprising if it still worked i guess
It's the same. OrangeFox stable R11.1_2 is asking for pattern since I'm using a pattern.. but my ROM is and Android 11 ROM at the moment (Xiaomi.EU) but perhaps your ROM is A12?.. in case yes and using FBEv2 then OrangeFox has a beta build but check the changelog & build notes carefully (quote: "This is an Android 12-only release. It only supports Android 12+ ROMs. Do NOT use with Android 11 or earlier" & "Only FBEv2 encryption is supported by this build. Do NOT use with ROMs that use FBEv1 encryption").
