Version 2 encryption policies use a more secure and flexible key derivation function. The default is v2 if the device launched on Android 11 or higher (as determined by ro.product.first_api_level), or v1 if the device launched on Android 10 or lower.
Has anybody tried it? Can it be used with other popular A12.1 ROMs like AICP, crDroid... or only with newer/A13 FBEv2 ROMs?
it started working after a software update, so I suggest you update to MIUI v13.0.1 A12
Hi. Can. I have installed on Miui 13, and I tested the FBE V2 on Derpfest Android 13, everything is OK for encryption.
Really? So Orange Fox is not a dead project as many people say...
Probably it should be better to post a link in the dedicated topic, after the permission by the developers of OF. Anyway there's no section for Surya on Orange Fox home, so it's not official. I'll continue like in this last year, TWRP.
The filename has 'Unofficial' mentioned in it, so this is clearly an unofficial release. I got this pic from someone else. I don't have a link and I guess link, if any, would be a telegram link, which does not seem to be welcome on XDA.
Seriously, guys, what's with all this obsession about constant development? If something works, why fix it and break it? Especially something like recovery. If yours works to flash a new ROM (or backup and restore), what else do you need? You don't spend all your day in recovery, do you? It's like a hammer. Any old piece of metal on a handle will work to do the job.Surya LOS maintainer recently went OTR on the support channel to state that TWRP has been abandoned, too, so we can only expect unofficial releases...
I totally get you. But the problem with recoveries is they haven't really been working for a long time now -- take encryption failures and lack of nandroid backups as the paramount examples...
People that flash custom ROMs often do it because they want the latest and greatest, so it's not surprising that they want the most recent custom recovery.
Aside from that, I suppose it's possible that a custom recovery could stop functioning following a major Android release, so knowing that TWRP is being maintained for the device is helpful.
I don't think TWRP for Surya has ever got to the point where it's perfect. I know at one point, it was possible to backup the data partition but not the system partition. Can someone advise if that's still the case?

luckily i was not affected.

Download from SourceForge Stable folder.1I always rename TWRP folder to TWRP.bak (not using the feature in the recovery, mind you) to prevent apps detecting its existence. And every time I do a backup I have to rename it back to TWRP; otherwise it creates the backup in a folder of its own. This used to be the case till recently (at least that's what I noticed). But now the backups are created inside TWRP.bak folder itself, which is cool since I don't have to go through the hassle of renaming the folder back and forth. I'd like to know if it is just me with this experience.
p.s.: I've been using @brigudav's TWRPs all along and I'm on the 04.12 build now. -
