Orange Fox Recovery - after a long time.

Really? So Orange Fox is not a dead project as many people say...

You didn't want to include a link?

Probably it should be better to post a link in the dedicated topic, after the permission by the developers of OF. Anyway there's no section for Surya on Orange Fox home, so it's not official. I'll continue like in this last year, TWRP.

The filename has 'Unofficial' mentioned in it, so this is clearly an unofficial release. I got this pic from someone else. I don't have a link and I guess link, if any, would be a telegram link, which does not seem to be welcome on XDA.

Surya LOS maintainer recently went OTR on the support channel to state that TWRP has been abandoned, too, so we can only expect unofficial releases... 😿
Seriously, guys, what's with all this obsession about constant development? If something works, why fix it and break it? Especially something like recovery. If yours works to flash a new ROM (or backup and restore), what else do you need? You don't spend all your day in recovery, do you? It's like a hammer. Any old piece of metal on a handle will work to do the job.

People that flash custom ROMs often do it because they want the latest and greatest, so it's not surprising that they want the most recent custom recovery.

Aside from that, I suppose it's possible that a custom recovery could stop functioning following a major Android release, so knowing that TWRP is being maintained for the device is helpful.

I don't think TWRP for Surya has ever got to the point where it's perfect. I know at one point, it was possible to backup the data partition but not the system partition. Can someone advise if that's still the case?

Anyway, a part TWRP 3.7.0 26.09.22 that broke my recovery partition, the latest one seems to be TWRP 3.7.0 29.09.22 FBEV2. Somebody installed it? It works? No boot issues?

    From another forum:

    Code:
.... rebuilt it again, tested it (myself) on 4 firmware with different types of encryption, as well as on MIUI, (I) identified and solved all the problems.
At the moment, this is almost a universal twrp.
Plus, (I) slightly corrected the interface and redid the icons.
Corrected the usb connection (there were complaints)....

What about this release? 27.11 ? On the space by Brigudav ( android file host ) there's not it. It's FBEV2 or "standard" ?
This version is universal, for any encryption and any roms.

.... brigudav just fixed whatever had to be fixed...
... I love trying every time the last version of everything but I don't know if it's dangerous to try TWRP 3.7.0......

How about posting a link to the "other forum" and to the file?
Not welcomed by xda mods. The dev has uploaded the file, anyway.

    Telegram post says:
    TWRP 3.7.0 12-1 FBEv2/FBEv1
    For FBEv1/FBEv2 (A12-A13)

The md5 I got is 4c5d775088fff275ad879bc3b269e0fb. Somebody confirm this.

Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or twrp3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

    Code:
    Code:
    /*
    *
    * We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
    * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
    * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
    * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
    * you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
    *
    */

    Features:
    - Touch Works in all states (No matter about lockscreen there or not)
    - Decryption works
    - Otg works
    - Flash Rom works
    - F2FS support
    - Fastboot boot command support

    Not working:
    - Fastbootd
    - Adb sideload
    - Backup restore and image flash (system-vendor-product)

    INSTALLATION:
    1. Download the TWRP image file to your PC.
    2. Put your device into fastboot.
    3. Type the following command to flash the recovery:-
    Code:
    fastboot flash recovery "name_of_recovery.img"
    4. On installation of TWRP , to boot the recovery do:-
    Code:
    fastboot boot "name_of_recovery.img"
The device will automatically reboot into TWRP, and you will have TWRP as your permanent recovery!
    5. Enjoy!

    Could you upload it somewhere?
    I uploaded latest brigudav's TWRP 3.6.0_10-0 and 3.5.2_10-12.

maybe the good dev @brigudav took note of this post and did the needful.
No, that post has nothing to do with it, encryption works on both 11 and 12 android. The problem is completely different, TWRP version 3.6.2-12 works perfectly only on MIUI on Android 12 & custom roms, and on MIUI A11 it causes problems with some applications and permissions to their databases, so Bluetooth and others stop working. Therefore, I release TWRP on Android 11, i.e. version 3.6.2-11, which is for MIUI.
