Larger question outside the scope of the Nexus 6p: Is there a reason why TWRP hasn't been published to FDroid? (I'd really like to Nexus 6p with TWRP and AOSP, no GAPPS, and run everything through FDroid. As much as I can: opensource without the Play services.

There is a "Donate to Me" Button under his name on Post #2. Or you can click his name in the OP and "Donate to me" is the list item in the drop down menu.
Has anyone noticed that there is some backlight error that pops up and when you do a backup the slide lock is extremely slow to open?
Yes, this version of TWRP is more broken than functional.

Oh, all respects to the dev and his time! Certainly didn't mean any disrespect. Doesn't change the fact that much about the initial build is broken.
Yeah, I think the point is just that sometimes it isn't WHAT you do, but HOW you do it. General life thing, though... often lost on the internet when everyone is hidden behind their keyboard, lol.
Updated to support decrypting userdata in recovery now.
Prior to this update, you couldn't keep your data encrypted (as is stock) if you wanted full use of TWRP. Now you can.
Oh, so now you can flash a custom kernel or root without decrypting?
I preface this by saying I haven't actually done those things yet (I rooted prior to the update), but yes... I imagine all of that stuff should work now without wiping and running without encryption.
hmm, maybe I'll adb flash the MDB08M and re-TWRP/re-Root and re-step up my phone.
Is this necessary? Or can we just install 2.8.7.1 and then encrypt in settings?
Thank you. Any idea why my theme worked on 2.8.70 and will not on 2.8.71? Just goes to a black screen after loading the curtain?
If i flash 2.8.7.1 without a theme in the folder then it boots just fine.

Not working for me, the encrypt phone button is grayed out.
Is it possible to install TWRP from an unlocked state without wiping now? or do you still need to format
