I'm not a programmer I'm a customer. As a customer I am comparing it to comparable apps and I find it lacking. I can't imagine why people actually want to make excuses on behalf of TWRP for the lousy official app that they released.
You should post at xda-customers instead of xda-developers.

Umm... I think the app was free and ad free. So... You aren't a customer. And technically if you donated... That's not really a customer either. Just be grateful twrp exists. Your comments ought to be suggestions and not accusations. Furthermore you are being entitled, very poor behavior.

What's the point of the app anyway? Just find the file on the twrp site and flash it in twrp. It's not like it gets an update every week (or month).

It's designed for the new and inexperienced users. An app that does the whole thing for you or setting up drivers/adb/fastboot/commands etc, it's targeted to those who don't really know what they're doing. Whether that means they should even be running TWRP is another matter haha. Even for experienced users and those in the know it makes it pretty simple to flash. I'm old fashioned though, I like flashing it manually. I do see why they've done it though. It's similar to how Koush had ROM manager to distribute his CWM recovery

not so sure about the official change log but the twrp-3.0.3-0-angler is from the official TWRP website. or you can download it from the official TWRP app from google play store. so far it’s working great. I made some back ups but have not try restoring backup yet.

Can anyone answer this question.... I went to TWRP's official website to download the 3.0.3.0.angler.img to update my recovery and noticed there's an additional downloadable file called 3.0.3.0.angler.img.asc directly below it. Any idea what this is? Does it need to be flashed along with the updated recovery?

Probably the MD5 file. Always good to check.

A message to @Dees_Troy and the moderators. I apologize for any issues the recent posts seem to have caused. I merely wanted to let the user know that the developer never said it would do all these things the user claims the app is "lacking".. I personally don't think it could be "lacking" if it was never stated that it would do certain things; esp on an initial release. At any rate, this is a development thread.. and should be used for that purpose.

In that regard, your app does exactly what you said it would.. it detected my device as "Angler" and when I selected the latest TWRP (3.0.3-0), it took me to your download page, I downloaded it.. then flashed thru the app. Successful flash, nothing crashed n I rebooted without error. Nexus 6P, encrypted system.
I didn't see any way to go to the download page until the version of the app that came out today. There's now an actual download tab that takes you to the TWRP page and shows which recovery versions are available for your device. That was one basic function that I thought was missing from the initial app.

I read a few earlier reports that it doesn't work. Have decided to hold out off for now. Thanks for the update that it works for you. Previous releases for 3.0.2 were hit and miss
Wrong. There's an issue with Flash's f2fs recovery and being encrypted.

Official twrp does not have the issue because its not made specifically for f2fs

This device has ALWAYS had that problem. Remove your pin before making a back up, or there's a process you can go through using the twrp file manager to remove the password.

But, if you make a backup with a pin then no matter what, it says the password is wrong after restoring.
