Thanks 911Jason. Unrooted by running the RUU you provided, flashed the image provided in OP with unrevoked, and nandroided back to my CM6 install.

The battery icon is back :D

Note to all: make sure you leave your Aria unplugged before running unrevoked, so you are able to select the custom image. Otherwise, it starts flashing its own image automatically.

This method worked for me without issues. It was odd seeing the original ROM load up...

My question: I see the battery, but is it really charging? Only time will tell. I had about 75% charge before I plugged it in (laptop USB).

It is charging. Once it reaches 100% the notification led actually turns green, something that didn't happen with the unmodified clockwork mod image.

Thanks for being the guinea pigs guys... I just successfully followed hi2u2's procedure and it worked flawlessly! Thanks Larry for posting this. You have any experience with the Nook Color? I'm going to go post about this over there and see if anyone can modify it for that.

So how is this installed?
1) Nandroid backup your current install.
2) Connect USB cable, then unroot by running the RUU, which can be found here. The ROM, radio, and recovery will be reverted to those that shipped with 2.1 Aria.
3) Once you get back to the Sense 2.1 home screen, unplug the USB cable. Unplugging allows you to select a custom recovery image to flash with unrevoked; otherwise, it'll just flash the default image automatically.
4) Run unrevoked. Go to File --> Custom Recovery, and browse to the recovery.img packed in this zip: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=563834&d=1302280803
5) Plug in USB cable, let unrevoked do its thing until you are rooted and are sitting in clockwork mod recovery.
6) Nandroid restore.
7) Update the radio, if desired.

I went through this whole procedure without a hitch and I can now charge in off mode as expected.

Pardon the stupid question but shouldn't CWR show 2.5.1.7? I show 2.5.0.7.

Thanks for all your work on this, nice to have this charging option.

My Aria was originally rooted using shad0wf0xs' Ubuntu Live CD method. I currently have ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.0.1 running on my phone and am using Liberated FR007 and HTC Sync 2.0.38 for contacts sync with outlook.

I am VERY interested in being able to charge my phone when it is turned off. This is my primary business phone and I cannot afford any complications. Will the ClockworkMod 2.5.1.7 offmode charging method described in this thread be compatible with the configuration info I listed above?

Also, please clarify the questions below about hi2u2's install steps:
2) Unroot by running the RUU, which can be found here.
Shouldn't I connect the USB cable before performing step 2? Also, should the RUU be copied to a folder on the computer or the SD card for this step?

4) Run unrevoked. Go to File --> Custom Recovery, and browse to the recovery.img packed in this zip: http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...4&d=1302280803
Since the USB cable was unplugged in step 3, is it safe to assume that the recovery.img file needs to be stored on the SD card?

No, Unrevoked is running on your PC, so the image needs to be on the PC.

You are correct, you must plug the USB cable in before running the RUU. The RUU should be on your computer. Step 2 has been revised.

Recovery image is extracted somewhere on your computer. You replug the cable after browsing to this image, as noted in step 5.

Thank you hi2u2 for your clarification. Since my phone was originally rooted using shad0wf0xs' Ubuntu Live CD method, do I need to install the hboot driver before running unrevoked 3.32 so it will see my phone to install the recovery image?

Also, I just launched the unrevoked package installer as a test and saw "Waiting for device. Plug phone in now and enable USB debugging. MAKE SURE HTC SYNC IS NOT INSTALLED." It looks like I need to uninstall HTC Sync before running unrevoked.
