Thanks! I was hoping I could flash it on the phone itself without the use of command promt. (attn1 had to help me for two hours till I figured alpharevx out.) Any way I could do it onboard my device?

You could try copying the zip file to the root of your SD Card and then rename it LIBEIMG.zip. Then boot your phone into bootloader and it will find the LIBEIMG.zip file and apply it. Once it is applied, you will want to rename it to something other than LIBEIMG.zip or delete it so that the bootloader won't keep reapplying it.

Hmm, I'll try that and see what happens. Wait, doesn't it need a special key/certificate? I'll try anyway.

Nope, that didn't work at all. All the bootloader said after it found it was parsing, then nothing else happened. I guess it is fastboot for me. *Sigh*

Why do you have to unroot to instal a new recovery? Can you not just run unrevoked again and choose the offmode cwm?

With the AlphaRevX solution to gaining S-OFF, you no longer have to unroot and then re-root using Unrevoked to flash a custom ROM. With S-OFF you can use fastboot flash recovery method or create a LIBEIMG.zip file with the new recovery.img in it and have HBOOT apply the update.

Slick. Now how do you do that?

But, if I don't want the alpharev hboot, can I just run unrevoked to instal the offmode charging clockwork. Or do I have to downgrade to 2.1 rom then run unrevoked?

You can try it with your current ROM. It will either work or it won't. It might require loading up an old Nandroid of an Eclair or Froyo ROM but I'm not sure. But no, you don't have to be "unrooted" to run Unrevoked.

I think that I still have a copy of the Aria original ship rom. If it doesn't work with my Gene Pool 222 rom, I'll downgrade to 2.1 then nandroid back to 222. Thanks for the replies.

It is charging. Once it reaches 100% the notification led actually turns green, something that didn't happen with the unmodified clockwork mod image.
My LED has always turned green when the charge was completed. I charge the phone every night... I shut it off too. I am using ClockworkMod version 2.5.0.1
I downloaded it directly from the ClockworkMod web site specifically for this phone. Didn't need to unroot to install it, just flashed it over the previous version.

I don't have a battery charging icon, but what do I care is on my phone's screen while I am sleeping?

ROM MANAGER should have the latest recovery image available with a fix for powering off and charging, thread will stay up for hostorical reference but these images are no longer required, it is always recommended to upgrade to the current version of rom manager and cwm that your rom requires
I can't seem to find the 2.5.1.7 recovery from Rom Manager. Even when I go under "All recoveries" it is not listed anywhere. How do I get the 2.5.1.7 from Rom Manager?

EDIT: Never mind, I did the update manually. Less complex than I originally thought.

RE: Clockwork Mod 2.5.1.7 Update Won't Work

OK, I have an HTC Aria running Hboot 1.02.0000, with S-OFF (Liberty PVT Ship S-OFF)
It is rooted, running Liberated 2.2.2 with the hoxnet_liberated_006b [email protected] #25 (RC 1 from Gene Poole) (See http://hoxnet.com/droid/hoxnet_liberated_rc1.zip)

I have have used the Fastboot method and at point where fastboot is writing recovery, I get the message "Failed: (Remote not allowed)"

I have tried to rename the .img file as Libeimg.zip and place on my SDcard root, and then run Fastboot/Recovery. It finds the Libeimg.zip and starts the install. What happens on the screen is way too fast, but when I reboot the phone into recovery it is still running the old version of Clockwork Mod.

I have tried running the Unrevoked, and pointing to the custom recovery feature and selecting the .img file from the 2.5.1.7 zip file (after extracting), and it too fails, giving me the "Failed to get root, is your firmware too new?" question.

I know that my phone is rooted, I know that it is S-OFF, I am running a custom rom, it is overclocked, and it is already running Clockwork Mod ver. 2.5.0.1.

Can someone please explain to me why I can not update the Clockwork Mod Recovery?

Have you actually tried seeing if the off mode charging works? The build floating around here still reports that it is 2.5.0.7.

Yes T, I have. 2.5.0.1 supports off charging. However, there is no charging graphic on the screen, the LED is orange, but will never turn green when in off mode charging. The phone will not turn on while still connected to the charger. After disconnecting the charger, booting the phone, and reconnecting the charger, the LED will then turn green to show that it is fully charged. This is all symptomatic of 2.5.0.1.

I was hoping to correct all of this by upgrading to 2.5.1.7. As stated, my phone is S-OFF already, running a custom ROM. I should not have to "unroot" the phone to flash a recovery upgrade, yet it seems that this sadly appears to be the root (pun intended) that I have to go.

I did not erase delvik Cache or memory before attempting this upgrade, but none of the instruction said I had to.

Maybe I will try that first.
