Damn Odin. Tried it with 3 different PCs, on two of them I used universal naked drivers, on the third one I used KIES to get the needed drivers. Not on a single pc the device is being recognized in Odin :|
Device Manager recognizes Samsung Android Interface. I just can't stand Odin lol
Any other way to flash a decent recovery without having one already or using Odin?

Download this drivers and try. It must work;)

It finally does :p
And flashing was just a matter of a few seconds.

That's the thing I just can't stand about Samsung. These universal naked drivers worked for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, ASUS Transformer TF300T and even this old Desire HD. Along comes Samsung and requires me to install their drivers :/

However thanks for your help guys ;)

I successfully flashed zip from user bajica provided in post number 184. The recovery is totally compatible at least for me and hasn't found any errors or bugs and reflashed few nightlies and gapps without any problem. It is non touch recovery version 6.0.5.1. So I would say this is latest compatible recovery. It's also absolutely latest recovery you can find as it was pulled from latest cm nightly a week or two ago if I remember correctly. So I would like to thanks user bajica and say it is probably safe tor everybody to flash it. Not responsible for any potential problem trough. As always - Flash on your own risk!

Hello I have

6.0.4.6 The OLD ONE -- I am a Noob, and I used the ROM MANAGER APP

I want this Verison. Can you please EXPLAIN How exactly would I "FLASH" IT what does that mean? step by step?

Thank You
- download the recovery to your device (should be a *. zip file)
- boot to already installed recovery (volume up + home button + power button) - some ROMs integrated "Boot to recovery" in their restart menu, else you have to do it with the mentioned buttons - press all at the same time a few seconds until your device reboots and you see the "Samsung Galaxy S3" logo, then you can/should release buttons
- in recovery choose install
- choose zip
- "Yes"
- you're done

Use the version @bajica suggested in post #184, but you can also use PhilZ recovery which is based on the latest CWM and is a bit nicer to use imo. You can get it here: http://temasek.hopto.org/?dir=Samsung Galaxy S3 - i9300/CM11.0/Misc (thanks to Temasek)

Btw. as far as I know development of CWM/PhilZ has stopped (correct me if I'm wrong). As an alternative you could use TWRP, which is still actively developed (you can install latest version with TWRP Manager from Play Store).

Hiya, I have just installed this, via Odin, but when I try to read from my ext sdcard (where a new ROM is) to install it, it doesn't see the new card, it just freezes. Any suggestions?

How to install?

My device is rooted but I haven't installed any custom recovery yet. I looked up a tutorial on how to install it with Odin, but it said I need a .md5 file, I can't find any .md5 file in here. Can someone help me?

U dont need any md5

Md5 is used to check if u have a correct file downloaded

Btw dont use CWM its outdated use TWRP for maximum compatibility with roms today
