But then i'll have to unlock bootloader right or is it just for custom rom that i have to do that? Anyway now that i have ta partition backup i can unlock bootloader without problem. So i can try the kernel too.

So far I'm really content and pleased with the rooted Sony stock ROM on my device. All working very stable and smooth.

But I would like to have CWM for flashing things.

So, the bootloader must be unlocked, but if I read correctly, all data will be lost.

Would the following be possible to circumvent needing to re-install all apps, re-set all settings etc.??

a) First make Nandroid backup via OBackup app, save to external SD or NAS.
b) Unlock bootloader, lose all data.
c) Install CWM.
d) Restore nandroid backup via CWM -> system up and running as before the operation, like nothing had happened.

???

Or will there possibly be problems with OBackup-produced Nandroids??

And am I right that I can do this on a SGP311 with .370 firmware? No need to downgrade to .344 first?

Yes, I would like to know this as well.

Can confirm that current file/download for CWM works on .370 firmware with SGP311.

Sitting in my computer chair looking at that rewarding CWM screen now!
Is this the US version of. 370 SGP311?

Sent from my SGP311 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Has anyone successfully added any recovery device to a locked bootloader whether TWRP or CW? I have struggled with this on SGP311 for weeks with successful root. However, when I have installed TWRP ROMManager doesn't recover into TWRP, just reboots normally.

Also, I was unsuccessful at unlocking the bootloader with the code. I was using ADB shell in fastboot mode. I received the .03 s in this example

Enter fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version, and verify that you get a response back (for example "0.3"). This means your device is connected properly.
However, when I went to unlock the bootloader there was no response. I have also tried to update to TWRP using the ADB shell, but again, my device does not respond to the code. For instance does not recognize "dd" as a command prompt?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

when you see the Sony logo and the LED light turns pink/amber/orange keep tapping/pressing VOLUME UP key

Does not work.
I can only enter the recovery when I use ROM Manager in Android and tap "reboot into recovery".
But How can I get into the recovery when the Device is off?

If it connects with pc companion then you can "repair" thru it... else it with flashtool or emma (presuming you already have downloaded the firmware)

Hello guys... is it me or "fastboot" is not recognized as an external or internal command?
Have you setup FastBoot before for your device to computer? That usually is the problem. If you have, another common problem is that some people deleted the SDK folder/files for your computer to actually run ADB or FastBoot. So you might wanna get that if you dont have it. (theres a thread about all this somewhere just look it up)

Can someone please babysit me for a second?

What is the relevance of the ftf backup / device number mentioned in the first post and why does one need to keep it ready for the flash? Is that just CYA procedure in case things go tits up? How do I extract my stock ROM version FTF and where is the mentioned number?

Also, I am on 4.2.2 stock ROM, BL unlocked and rooted. build is 10.3.1.C.0.136 on a SGP311 device. Is the recovery known to work or am I in uncharted waters?

Sorry, I am new to Sony devices after almost a decade With HTC... any advice is appreciated.
