Ok so today I cooked myself a rom with MJ1 firmware. I flashed a few times and restored backups.

I also did full wipes in the N9005 (1011) recovery including data. I had no problems at all so I think its pretty safe to say the recovery is now working fine @Chenglu. Thanks for all your hard work :D:good:
Good to hear that....so we can expect another sweetness from down under soon.....:D:D:D

Is restore working for Canadian models?

I've been following every post in this thread and, over the last few pages, some people are reporting success restoring their backups.

I simply want to be sure because, with my original Note 3 using TWRP, I bricked my device, so now I'm hesitant to restore anything.

For the Canadian model, specifically the units from Rogers, model N900W8, using n900w8-cwm-recovery-6.0.4.4(1011).tar, is the restore function working? Furthermore, if yes, are they also working if you restore from the external SDCard?

Thanks,
Peter

P.S. After about two years of using TWRP, I think I might stay with CWM.

Addendum: By the way, the time is off. I believe it's showing Greenwich time. It looks like it's 4 hours ahead, which would confirm this suspicion as I'm in Canada, in the Eastern Time Zone (-4 DST).

Addendum 2: Greenwich Time confirmed. It's EXACTLY 4 hours ahead ... to the second.

Addendum 3: Then again, I may be so used to TWRP, where you could set your time zone. Perhaps this option is not available with CWM. If true, then you can ignore the time issue.

that isnt exactly a new thing and it isnt a "issue".. its been like that on almost every Sammy phone i have used.. if you are on the stock rom and flash a custom recovery after a reboot the recovery will be reverted to stock.. you have to delete/rename 2 files to make sure that the custom recovery stick

/system/recovery-from-boot.p*
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh

PS- btw if anyone is still worried restoring backups works fine on the latest recovery
This happened to me also, Flashed chenglu's CWM via ODIN successfully but once the phone reboots it's back again to stock recovery. What i did was again flashed everything via ODIN and as soon as Odin says it's SUCCESSFUL(when the screen turns off because the phone will reboot) i removed the battery. Then i entered the recovery mode (VOL UP+HOME+POWER) voila! it entered CWM, then i installed SuperSU via CWM (i put the SUperSU update file on my ExtSD before flashing CWM) rebooted the phone. then i turned it off, entered recovery once more this time to install a custom rom (Omega, which is also in my ExtSD).

Hope this helps.

You know, sometimes I play with my phone too much. :) Case in point, I deleted some system files and started getting a GAPPS error.

As a result, I decided to restore my previous Nandroid, and ...

SUCCESS!

That's a big weight off my shoulders. At least now I know that Restore works, but I have yet to test the feature by restoring from the external SDCard. My current Nandroids are internal.

What did you restore? I mean a full restore, or parts like system, data, and boot only?
