- What is your build number ?
- Try to flash GSI using "Minimal ADB and fastboot" .
P.S.: sorry, I'm out of ideas, personally didn't faced a problem like this...

I don't know whitch type of gsi you downloaded and tried to flash but i remember reading "somewhere" in the treble a and a/b section ( forgive me for not remebering the exact thread) that starting from an android 9 stock rom a-only devices requier an a/b gsi. I don't know witch variant you tried to flash, our device is a-only but i remember to have red that coming from EMUI 9 you should use an a/b gsi.

and post the results.

Flash it simply in fastboot mode.

IMPORTANT! Before booting up the ROM, you will need to perform a factory reset in stock recovery!

- Extract the system.img file from the compressed package
- Flash extracted system.img in fastboot , use command
fastboot flash system (file_name).img
- Run command fastboot reboot, unplug your phone, when yellow warning appears on the screen , press and hold for 3 sec Volume Up . In eRecovery select 'Wipe data/factory reset'.
- Reboot .
do i need to wipe something BEFORE flashing system ?

Bro right now I tried latest AndyYan's build ,
https://sourceforge.net/projects/an...8-UNOFFICIAL-treble_arm64_bvS.img.xz/download
works like charme on my P20 lite 9.1.0.132, it should work on LLD-L31 too.
Try total clean flash - if you have BL unlock code, flash service ROM, for example this one via dload method, then unlock BL and try again , in fastboot mode.
(No TWRP, no Magisk, no Permissiver ,no custom Kernel etc.).
So if i was planning on flashing a GSI anytime soon would it be preferable to upgrade to EMUI 9.1 first instead of staying on the EMUI 8 vendor i'm stil on right now?
Are there any (dis)advantages to either one?
I'm asking because i was under the impression that no to long ago GSI's weren't working to wel on a EMUI 9 vendor.

    Disclaimer
    This software comes wth no warranty,XDA staff ,myself or TeamWin stuff can't be hold responsible for any damage it may cause to your device.

    Note: Currently Oreo 8.1 custom roms are not supported,only stock EMUI 8.x .

    Download and Installation

    * Download twrp recovery
    * Start your device in fastboot mode
    * Install the recovery using the following command:

    Code:
    fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk [filename].img --> ex: fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp_honor9_lite_0.1.img
    * Restart with this command:
    Code:
    fastboot reboot
    * As soon as you execute the restart command,remove the USB cable and keep pressing Volume UP,so the device will boot to TWRP.This is to avoid that the device boot to OS,overwritting TWRP recovery.

    Features

    Internal storage decryption = working
    MTP and OTG connection = working
    Backup&Restore = working

    Note: There are no sources for this yet,because is based on the work of @zxz0O0 ,from Honor 9.

    Well, or i havent find it yet. With firmware Finder are a few That says are aloud to my modelo but i got error once it downloaded and the Phone restar and star to install it al the time in 6%
    You are mixing things so you better stop and educate yourself a bit on how TWRP, Firmware Finder and Stock Roms work... before you do some damage.
    If you want to use Firmware Finder to install approved firmwares, then you don't have to install TWRP, you need to stay with stock,otherwise firmwares will not install.
    The other way is, like i already said, with HuRUpdater, which works with TWRP and doesn't require an approved firmware.
