Just flash the twrp image with fastboot

Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
Yeah I get it, you enjoy fastboot, congrats. When I first installed TWRP, installing it via fastboot was a giant headache ("I had a hell of a time"). I know what I'm doing, and was just curious if anyone had successfully updated their recovery with the TWRP manager app specifically. If you don't know, please refrain from replying again. Trust me, I would much rather flash via fastboot, but my laptop hates flashing recoveries and kernels with fastboot (work laptop, and the only reason I can gather is due to some type of overbearing security feature).

Ok, I don't use twrp manager but I do know you can update the recovery using flashify. So if that's what you'd like to do try that.

That's exactly what I thought of doing after my last reply and updated it successfully.

I was specifically wondering about the TWRP app because the directory it lists for the recovery installation seems weird.

I wouldn't trust that app. Never worked for me, ever. Now that you have 2840, you can flash all future recoveries from that.

In the immortal words of Inspector Clouseau... "The case is sol-ved"!

So long as you're already rooted you can flash via terminal emulator straight off your n9 if fastboot is causing issues, in my experience its best to use some form of command line when flashing firmware

I so far tried the modded twrp and the regular, but it won't won't wipe the device keeps asking for password so I can't flash any thing. Tried format data, but it won't work any reason why.

Well tried to install so I wiped data since it is the first rom I installed on the device. I am trying to install liquidsmooth. I never had so much trouble installing a rom.

EDIT: figured it out had to install the kernel first
