Thread re opened...

I just want to make one thing clear

Flaming/Trolling a Senior Recognized Developer who has done so much for this community is NOT how you go about getting more development accomplished.

Please everyone, be kind to each other....respect those who have done much for this community, its very simple. Furthermore, you never know who the next great developer is going to be, so all users/developers/hackers should be treated with respect.

This thread is now on our radar, please do not give us another reason to come in here and clean.

Thanks,

Baja

Don't mean to upset you but I'd really appreciate it if @jcase could chime in and help if you ever gets some time to spare to look at things. 99% of the community appreciates the work you do, it's just that the 1% seem to scream the loudest and affects the small bits of progress that is made. I hope that most of the annoying people are gone and can't keep screwing things up for the rest of us.

Could be wrong but but I think the issue is that you would use the LG Tool to repack the TOT with TWRP as the new recovery partition but someone mentioned the cracked LGtool isn't working. However I have not tried myself. But that's the roadmap.

I think there are mixed reports of it working or not working. Somehow the guy at the repair shop was able to flash my phone so presumably something works to flash it. We just need to create a TOT that can be flashed that contains a custom recovery.

I've been lurking and watching this thread from the outside. I'm a LG V10 user and it looks like we're all in the same boat. People grow impatient and lash out. I can understand the anxiousness to have root as we're all praying for someone to save the day since it appears as though (at least from the V10 side) that we're all incapable of figuring out a way to get root/twrp. The real fear I have is that these people who keep freaking out and stirring up trouble are going to ruin it for us all by continuously doing whatever they're doing. My advice to those who are causing trouble is to stop this crap immediately. Hell, we may never get a root method for our tmo V10 on 6.0 as I'm not sure anyone's even working on it at all, or if the method that may or may not be worked on for the G5 will work for us. Wouldn't it totally suck if those who are causing trouble here caused the guys who may be working on root to say screw everyone and walk away from it? Is it really worth it to do what you're doing? So come on guys smarten up

Was super excited to pick up a G5 yesterday to replace my G4. Silly me for not doing my research first, now it will just sit in the box or be sold. The bummer is I know I'd have to reset it if the unlock was available in a week, so why set it up to set it up again...

Unlock the bootloader set it up the way you want and wait for the recovery fix. Read the threads for the directions. This is an LG phone not a nexus therefore it will take time if at all for a root solution. The good news is root has been achieved. Just need patience.

It's easy to explain why we don't have root yet. The devs don't give a crap because the crybabies with entitlement issues piss them off because the crybabies don't know the meaning of the word patience or respect.

Just to clarify, the bootloader unlock method for the global version will work on the H830 (which requires a reset)? If so that is great. I don't mind waiting for root and/or recovery as long as I don't need to reset. I know for sure the bootloader unlock will require it.

I used the one for the nexus 6p
Enable OEM unlock in developer options
Enable usb debugging
adb reboot-bootloader
fastboot flashing unlock
fastboot reboot

We can lock the bootloader back by:
fastboot flashing lock

We all know how to unlock Nexus bootloader.

Sent from my Moto E using XDA Labs
I didn't realize everyone was using this method to unlock the H830 my mistake sorry. Perhaps I'll keep my comments to myself for now on. Anyone else get into the tot yet? If so PM me I have a couple ideas but only know enough to get myself into trouble lol.

Just to clarify a few things for my sanity. The instructions wolfu11 put in for the N6 are not correct. Also the steps for the H850 where you have to download a special unlock file are also incorrect. The correct steps are to do:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock (wait for device erase)
fastboot getvar unlocked -> returns yes
reboot, get the terrifying triangle warning
I did the above steps without issues on my H830 and hope I won't need another reset.
