Am I right in thinking that the header is:

44 DD 55 AA 53 46 55 51 5A 33 58 20

This is what I get when I compare both the Full TOT and the Recovery TOT. Both have the same values at the beginning when examined with a hex editor.

Here are links to an error log produced by LGUP 1.11 after attempting to flash a TWRP containing TOT and a successful flash log after flashing my stock recovery TOT. Not sure if it provides anything noteworthy but others can examine it if they'd like.

Hi glad to see some progress, as well as friendly faces! So let me see if I'm understanding correctly. The goal is to pack twrp into a flashable .tot to get a custom recovery then flash a package to disable dm verify to be able to flash SU, and custom roms. Correct?

Exactly except we have the dm verity disable flashable file.

sent from my unrooted g5 cause T-Mobile and lg are jerks

I'm happy to lend a hand anyway I can. It's sad to see phones in the U.S. locked down like this. Especially because a lot of people (like myself) couldn't afford an international varient. Tmo payment plan is the only I could afford to get a high end android. Not to say that mid end devices aren't okay, but from what I have seen there's a lot less development on them. I was looking at the s7edge till I saw the locked bl. So I got an s5. Screen cracked somehow two leeks later, and a pawned ps4 later I went with the g5. I had a g3, and flashed roms. So I know a bit about lg's phones. Not a lot, like I said happy to help anyway I can.

I feel your pain. I'm basically on the same boat but I've had from g2 and up and I loved my g3. One of the finest phones I've had the honor to own. Now the g5 is great but we need to find a way to flash that tot

Just to clarify, the bootloader unlock method for the global version will work on the H830 (which requires a reset)? If so that is great. I don't mind waiting for root and/or recovery as long as I don't need to reset. I know for sure the bootloader unlock will require it.
I was able to just unlock my LG G5 H830 (T-Mobile) without any preliminaries (even easier than the H850). My only issue so far is that when I reboot it takes 5-10 seconds with a warning message before booting up. This is an irritant, but I can live with it, or have lived with it so far (a week or so).

And as you realized, it does reset the phone...

BTW, this is ONLY unlocking, no root or anything replaced yet. Exactly what you were talking about.

Does it say can not check for corrupt system software or something simular? I am only asking because I have only been that far myself. I did a factory reset and it went back to normal...

I have been trying everything under the sun. Checking boot loader encryption keys is as far as I can go without it becoming bricked or at least that's my conclusion being that I am in uncharted territory at this point. Still learning as I go. If I had a newly signed bootloader with fastbooting enabled I'd be golden at this point..lol

I still believe root can be enabled very easily with a full system dump from a prereleased version.. Just don't know anyone with one that could offer this.. A .tot from this could easily be flashed with LG tool.

...have you done ANY research on this? We figured that out a while ago and that's all anyone has been trying to do for over a week

Been busy just trying to keep up with the latest.. Did it not work? Why? Seems this would be the easiest way.. Was their a problem with the tool updating?

Have they tried with OEM unlock unchecked as in off?

That's not good... While I respect jCase for all he has done for the community (which I have been able to see in a very short period of time.) I have never been for the punish the masses for sins of others. There are still great people here on xda. The mojority of this thread itself proves that. To attack the entire LG community. At such a critical time as this? When phones are being locked down left, right, and center? I remember the joy of getting my g3 home the day after I got it. Sitting down and learning about custom recoveries. All the cool amazing things we could do with our phones. With just a little time, and patience. Looking back I remember what an amazing experience it was. I got the phone with my first paycheck, from my first job. I was so happy to be able to explore this new community, and machine. Knowing immediately that was only because of people with more knowledge of these things then I had. It also gave me hope that I could learn, and be able to help give back to this great place we call xda. As well as help keep our devices free. I know a lot of us have different reasons to root, and flash custom roms. For me it's making my device unique in anyway I can. From Xposed tweaks to themes, and anything inbetween. It doesn't seem fair to me. To punish hard working people who are patient, and understand (at least to some extent) the headache of development. I had to pawn my ps4 to get my g5. I had a choice to make one love, or another. This may sound ridiculously cheesy, however I felt it needed to be said. Many thanks to you all.

Good for jcase. He can really help LG maybe land govt contracts etc. Ya sucks for us but I'm happy for him. (it is a job, right?)

I see us only using HTC to root in the future

At the rate Android is going in time HTC will be locked out as well.
I mean have you seen how much google bloat is packed into Android? might as well call it (google-droid)
Soon perhaps if you want a rootable phone Nexus will be the only way to go. Hard to use AOSP when you can't get into the phone.

What better way to sock it to trolls than to work with LG to ruin it for everyone. And maybe get a amazing job at the same time. Win win. The S6 I'm typing this on is rooted with twrp. Still going to wait a little longer before reselling the H830.
