Sorry guys you'll probably have to wait for someone with the G5 to fix the various stability issues. It's a real trouble for me to diagnose these problems having only small reports from a few people that an issue exists, but I have no way to look into it besides asking people for logs and hoping I can run into something in the kernel sources.

THANK YOU. because it seem'd as if everyone else had no clue. Yes, after or during a backup if the phone times out you will be unable to swipe it to unlock recovery. Maybe we can ask @jcadduono to look into it. :)

simply oem unlock it. flash stock tot then relock. done.
Are you asking me to do it again? That's exactly what I described it in the post you quoted lol.

Anyone got a twrp backup of stock root? I'm having issues with LG UP and getting the below error. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers dozens of times and have spent hours playing in device manager and can't seem to get it to recognize my phone. I would rather just copy a fresh twrp backup to my microSD card and restore from there.

I do believe this video will help if I'm reading your post correctly. It's the 1st clean and detailed instructions I've seen that guides you step by step on how to unlock the bootloader, obtain root, etc.

Did you install drivers from autoprime all in 1 thread? Also did your computer recognize your phone when you boot to the bootloader? Also what ver. of Windows are you on?

Checkout Max Lee on YouTube high on android.. He has a video with rooting and unbricking I'm rooting and provides links to all of the files needed.. Even explains errors as well as how to correct if needed..
Yeah, last that's the video I followed. Im used to using Odin with Samsung phones so that made it real easy for me to follow a new method

Guys I see a few people having issues with LG up. I don't even have this phone but I think I can help.
I'm 99% confident that all of you forgot to move the common folder into the device name (forget the exact name) folder. That's your problem. Once you do that try again and LG up should recognize your device immediately

Anyone know why when i do adb reboot bootloader it just restarts the phone? I have usb debugging enabled and Enable OEM unlock enabled.
Because Download/Emergency mode and bootloader mode are different. adb reboot bootloader works on samsung/HTC and others but for LG. While the phone is off press Vol Up + CONNECT USB. IF there is a adb command to reboot to download mode I don't know it. Unless you mean Fastboot. Then try adb reboot fastboot ....? Maybe.

After watching that video on how to root tmo g5, I am going to wait until something better gets released. I am certainly not spending 30m-1hr to root lol. I would rather wait for it to actually come out. I have other devices to use in the mean time. I suggest waiting to be honest here.

It's really not hard or time consuming. Download drivers and files. OEM unlock. Open LGUP. Flash the TOT.

I did it on my G5 after getting it back from the repair shop (yay!) and was up and running with my rooted G5 in no time. First thing I did was get rid of some of the T-Mobile bloat!

Nice to see you got everything set back up man! Now we wait for CM & the plethora of custom roms that follow. :)

Are there any special steps to do before you make a twrp backup for the 1st time?

I think the important thing is to format data to make sure the encryption is gone. After that I just backed up in twrp.
