After watching that video on how to root tmo g5, I am going to wait until something better gets released. I am certainly not spending 30m-1hr to root lol. I would rather wait for it to actually come out. I have other devices to use in the mean time. I suggest waiting to be honest here.

Some people spent weeks/months working hard (for free) to get this out. You complain about spending 30-60 mins to root? Unbelievable, trust me no one is going to waste their time making it easier for you than it is now.
The working TWRP only TOT wasn't released for a reason, and it will stay that way.
Just be happy that the people took the time so you can enjoy a rooted LG G5.
Ungrateful Posts like this are the reason people hesitate to release anything.
I'm really starting to see their point.

I totally agree in that this fellow obviously has zero appreciation (and negative patience) for those who develop ways to root devices, develop ROM's, etc. For free to boot! I paid $25 voluntarily to the developer who figured out how to root the H830 (via the bounty thread) and was very happy to do so. I was glad that he took his time so those of us who hate ads on their phones and like to mod them to improve performance, their appearance, etc. can now do so.
Keep up the good work and please develop Cyanogenmod for the H830. Which that ROM has always been free as well.

I just think some people are to honest for their own good.. Rooting and system apks app debloating using root browsers and system mods can be complex.. If someone sees it as to hard or to risky for their skill set then they choose a defense mechanism to hide ignorance. Nothing shameful in not knowing. I would simply say sorry then brotha your missing out.. I have great sound control custom boot animations way less crap apps to deal with and whole slew of coolness to enjoy while you wait for something that may never happen.. Good day..lol

I'd love to learn how to make boot animations. Even roms for that matter. Roms I probably lack the time required. I did some searching a while back. Most of the info seemed outdated.

Although I do agree. If you're new to rooting it takes time, and a bit of research.

Team Win Recovery Project 3.0.2

WARNING: The stock boot image has dm-verity, which prevents you from booting if you swipe to enable system modifications!
SOLUTION: Flash a root such as SuperSU or phh-superuser. You can also flash no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip.

NOTICE: The LG G5 H830 currently has flashing locked!
You will need to use a tool to get around this limitation. At the moment, Team Win nor myself cannot provide anything for this.
The community, and user @tungkick has however provided an alternative method of flashing, which can be done via a full firmware flash using a TOT file.
See here for instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g5/development/root-h830-t3384526

A message to those with other variants of the G5:
Should there be a time where your flashing mechanisms get cracked, simply mention my name on this thread or via private message and I would be happy to create a thread with TWRP for your device.
I have device trees ready for ALL variants of the G5, pending their unlock!

WHAT IS TWRP?

Oh come on, you know what it is - don't try to fool me!
In case you're serious, though...

Team Win Recovery Project is a custom recovery for Android devices.
It allows you to back up and restore your data, flash custom ROMs to your device, repair broken file systems, and root your device.

Come on man, this can't be the first thread you read on this? LG removed the FB command so twrp has to be included in a. Tot file and flashed via LG up.

Do not let your system update yet cause we don't know what it does.

Are you serious? People just ignore this comment. Let him read a little. This is why devs stop releasing stuff. People feel so entitled and lazy. @DAXX DO SOME READING!

You didn't need to read all 76 pages!
It's in the OP!!!!!! Omg!

To be fair, I did what he did at first... Unlock bootloader, try to flash TWRP with fastboot. Buuuut, when that didn't work, I started reading. ;)
Good on you, McGrath, for still giving advice to him. (Quotes edited to keep down post height)
