I'm having a safestrap issue where it crashes when trying to install a ROM. It has worked fine in the recent past, but in the last few days it will no longer flash nor will it restore a backup.

The only thing I see that looks like a visible error is that it says (when fixing permissions):
Done fixing Permissions.
E: Unable to unmount '/data'
Done.

I've tried reinstalling safestrap in KK, uninstalling, reinstalling... with no change.

Help.

I would go to Restore for MJ5 --Doesn't trip Knox and optionally provides root

Go real slow and restore your phone to MJ5 ( skip root part, I use kingo)

then start over and when you get safestrap installed on a rooted MJ5 , do a recovery backup after your rom is ok when running mj5, copy that twrp folder to your pc to a safe place (for future use) any help I can do just PM me

I don't think that you need this. Do you have a locked bootloader?

sent from the kitchen
I believe it is unlocked for Rogers (found a thread saying it wasn't but dunno about its validity). However, I want to keep knox at 0x0 so I can't install custom recovery like TWRP right?

Thank you. I installed MJ5, Rooted, Safestrapped, and made a ROM Backup.

I'm off to the races :)

Well, in theory it should work if you are rooted. Safestrap is just an app that comes as an apk. When you install it, you then open it and install a workaround recovery. So, I don't think it matters what the status of your BL is, it's not touching anything. I'm not 100% sure. Just from my point of you. You can try it, but don't hold me responsible for anything happens. LOL
search and ask Devs.

I used safestrap to install knoxraid on an at&t Galaxy Note 3. I would like to try another rom so I reinstalled safestrap and installed it's recovery but it will not reboot to the new recovery. Not sure how to make it happen..

I assume you are saying u installed a 4.3 ROM and want to try another? Because if you are saying u installed a KK ROM and wanted to go back into recovery to try another................then everyone needs to read....before doing anything to their phones....

knoxraid install comes with odin and files to ket recovery to boot. if you tryed installing safestrap from kitkat it will not boot and you reinstalling recovery might mess up your current recovery that is on internal drive

if you use odin to install files to get recovery to boot and you do not get the safestrap boot screen, then you some how lost your recovery that was on your internal drive

here is download of just the odin and files, but no rom
safe strap picture, red writing means your using stock rom slot, green means your using a slot 1,2,3,or 4

I think I kinda screwed the pooch and switched to a different rom slot with no rom present and left SS recovery. I'm stuck at the splashscreen and I'm thinking I'm going to have to remove SS. Is there a way to reboot into SS so I can switch back to Stock Rom Slot?

I think I missed something. I downloaded 3.71 for AT&T. When I boot, it loads to the splash page, but then when I click recovery, it just goes black. I have tried several times, uninstalled and reinstalled. I also have tried uninstalling the recovery, and reinstalling the recovery. Is there something I am forgetting to do?

I currently am on stock 4.3 n4b or whatever rooted with kingo.

Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks :)

I think NB4 has been confirmed not to work on SS3.71. This could be due to a variety of reasons. I can PM you a new build which has an updated init binary and selinux files, but there still won't be any guarantee of a working recovery till I can get this loaded on my device to debug.

I'll PM you a link to testing shortly.

Yes you can. Just go to @drakeymcmb's Knoxraid thread, download "comingfromjb" follow the instructions for booting into SS with Odin. As long as you have SS installed on device it will boot you into SS, activate stock slot and your back in business.
