I suspect that root is going to be needed to fix the problems as I'm guessing it's encountering permission problems when accessing and manipulating files and directories necessary for recovery to perform it's various functions.

I was wondering what the deal is, cause I was thinking that if insecure adbd was working and root is fine from the recovery, I could adb shell, manually mount system and push the su binary over to root it.
If I can't get root shell there's no point unlocking (or rather, the wiping part) right now.
