How can I disable it without twrp?
Grab the stock vbmeta image from dump that your stock has/had. Use fastboot to flash it with the following command:

Code:
fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
Else just flash those zips using TWRP that offers disabling AVB. You can find them on XDA I guess.

Thanks for the info.... Many users don't read instructions

You probably know what you are doing, but from what I have read here and there, it is usually not advisable to flash any new/other recovery version from any recovery already installed, but instead it seems to be preferred to flash directly the new image using fastboot to avoid any kind of issues.
It might have worked out for you in the end (lucky? a good device/rom combination maybe too), but I think it might be best to advise people not to do that, and flash any recovery, this or any other, from fastboot only.
Since many people/users with a wide different range of skills are reading those forums, I thought it would be best not to spread confusion. There are already quite a lot for this device with guides suggesting completely different things.

My remark is not aimed at you, I am glad it worked for you, just to the overall audience if they felt like trying to flash a new recovery from an already installed recovery which I think is not the wisest option and even less on a device so prone to brick.

Just my 2 cents.

Regards.
I bricked my LG G6 doing exactly that: flashing a recovery from another recovery. Still trying to recover my phone. In the meantime I had to get the 8 PRO :)

OK, I've tried it. After flash twrp only got black screen:mad:
Black screen in recovery might be related to the brightness bug 1st post has mentioned. Wait for the new image.
Meanwhile, assuming you still have fastboot and only recovery does not show up, waiting for this known bug to be fixed in the OFFICIAL branch, you may want to try one of other two previous UNOFFICIAL TWRP available for this device which do not have that problem anymore I think (at least i never had it with either of the two), just to confirm or infirm this really is the problem or not.

I know how frustrating it can be to have to wait without being able to do anything (boot unlock....... 7 days.... damn that was long....), so instead of waiting you can try that and report back here if your problem was indeed elated to this known bug or not. Good luck.

We all need to be patient with the new (just released) OFFICIAL branch and give @TheImpulson some space to breath :p

We have our OFFICIAL TWRP after all :good: :good: :D

Yeah that does not surprise me, I have seen many ending up bricking their devices trying to go too fast sometimes. It may work for some and not for some others to do some 'more or less' dirty flash, when the fastboot method as far as I know, work for -almost- everyone. As a general rule of thumbs that usually seem wiser to follow the method that works for most IF your HW/SW/Region do match the one in given tutorial ;)

Short answer to all your questions is Yes.
Yes You MUST UNLOCK BOOTLOADER BEFORE messing up with anything.
Yes Unlocking bootloader kind of void warranty BUT in most cases you can reflash a stock rom and relock it. Not sure if that would be considered as a breach of the warranty or not, but I am certain no reseller would be able to tell. Only Xiaomi. OTA updates depends on what you do after unlocking your bootloader. If only that then yes you will still receive them. If you root your phone then no you wont be able to apply them on the fly but will have to follow a precise procedure to apply them manually.

As for the last question, solution was given by @TheImpulson just a few replies before (please try to make sure to read all replies in a thread at least in current thread when they still have a moderate size, some pages back at least, even search forums, before asking your question as it was likely answered before. Not many have patience with repeating what they just said ;))

But here is your AVB question answered bellow.

Hope this helps.

Yes.
I'm been able to fix by flashing via fastboot a stock rom. However, I panic and use the one who downloaded via MiFlash, which is 11.0.3.0PGGCNXM. This one doesn't have Spanish language nor gapps.
Now, can I flash another ROM the same way to fix this? I was thinking about the 11.0.3.0PGGEUXM via fastboot. This one is the global ROM right, with Spanish and pre-installed gapps? Or should I use the International version? (I don't have the 11.0.3 Rom for this one, just the 11.0.1, which I think a downgrade is not possible)

It's not really a TWRP related issue, you should have either made your own thread or posted in one of the existing ones I think. But well...

In such situation never panic :p (easy to say to others, harder to apply to one self when it is happening to him hi hi)

*PGGEUXM (EEA) or *PGGMIXM (Global) as far as I know both contain Spanish and Gapps including default Google Dialer and Contacts (which is a problem for some Mi users who prefer Mi Dialer and Mi Contacts app).
Main difference between EU and Global Roms I think is because EU lows about privacy are a lot more strict than anywhere else in the world, and since Xiaomi is collecting hell of a lot of data with all its apps, they preferred to use stock Android ones which already have to 'respect' those laws (has anyone checked, not so sure but that's an other story)
I heard that Indonesian Rom (ID) is the same as global with still Mi Dialer and Mi Contacts but I am unsure if it has Spanish, English for sure.

You can easily find stock Roms for RN8PRO by simply googling for it, but here is a link where you can find various versions and formats.

Stock roms here

If your device is a Global one (and not a Chinese one) you should be able to flash what you want, even more if you are using the Fastboot flash method of all images one by one (dont panic here that's where you can brick a phone if you dont flash the correct image to the correct location!).

From what I read here (never had to do it myself so far) you can flash whatever version you want if you are not trying to apply a downgrade OTA update (which wont work I think) but as long as you flash all partitions with Fastboot I am pretty sure you can downgrade to the stock version you want to. Some rolled back to the 10.4.2 version because they did not like either MIUI 11 changes or found themselves in an unstable Android 10.
You can probably do it with Mi Flash too, if I understood right, you are popped for an Authorized Account only when your device is bricked (not sure never used that tool) just do not press that button which relock bootloader!

If you have a Chinese phone be extra cautious and make sure to read all the various guides online, because those are the device sold there and Chinese gov do not want people there flashing to remove the restrictions the country enforce. As the result they are the one to brick the more easily.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
