Hello there, has any one succeeded with S10e (G9700) Android Q? I tried several times and constantly got the same "download mode splash screen" as #106, no way to enter twrp. Does this mean G9700 & Q & twrp just won't work for now?

I couldn't solved the problem. So I don't have TWRP installed. What I did was installed the ROM with Odin. I'm using LineageOS 17 from the PHH Treble based on this.

I decompress the Stock Image and re-compress to use PHH (LineageOS 17 PHH).
You have to compress them back with lz4 and then use Odin as if it was stock FW image but with the new recovery.img, vbmeta.img & system.img

@Mentalmuso Thanks so much for this. I have it all setup and it appears to be working fine on the 9730.
One question though, my OEM unlock is unlocked in the dev options, however it appears to not be greyed out. I'm a bit afraid to reboot I'm not sure if vaultkeeper will jump back on.

What does it not being greyed out imply?

Do you have any advice? My s10 ist going in a Bootloop... i used this instruction

Problem restoring

I also have a related issue; after backuping and restoring all available options on my phone.

I'm running TWRP on a Galaxy S10+.

In the first backup I've made (after rooting and flashing ROM), I've included all options my phone have: Baseband, Boot, Cache, Data (excl. storage), EFS, Product, Product Image, System, System Image, Vendor, Vendor Image.
In later backups I've only included: Boot, Data, System.

I was jumping between backups and restored the first backup in full (meaning I restored everything that was backed up - not only Boot, Data & System).

Since then, the phone is stuck on Samsung's boot screen.
I've returned to TWRP to restore a later backup (only Boot, Data & System), but am still stuck on boot screen.

Can anyone help please?
A million thanks to whoever can help me get back to normal.

Btw @anthonyclass, I believe for normal ROM backup; boot, data & system are sufficient.
But you're free to backup everything you want.

Installation

* Unlock bootloader first
* Reboot recovery and reboot system now behave normally after flashing.
* No more patching in Magisk manager at all.
* Be aware, first clean boot, hangs on building cache, hard reboot after waiting about 3min and you'll boot past this
* If simply updating your existing TWRP, v9 upwards, you only need to flash the TWRP.img in recovery. No need to reflash kernel and Magisk.

Process from bone stock
1. Flash TWRP.tar in Odin
2. Reboot directly into TWRP
3. Format data, reboot recovery
4. Flash kernel
5. Flash encryption disabler if desired.
6. Unmount system, Flash Magisk 19.4 (not 20.*)
7. Reboot system

Process from existing TWRP
1. Flash TWRP.img to recovery
2. Reboot recovery
3. Flash Kernel zip
4. Unmount system and Flash Magisk zip
5. Reboot system

I'm thinking of buying a G9700 and want to be able to root it. This thread has some great info in it but I'm a bit confused by the instructions. It says to "flash kernel"...what kernel? I can see some github links to some source but no binary or zip files to flash. Help please?

Hmm this is worrying. Sounds like G9700 + Android 10 = no TWRP and no root, and no-one seems to know how to fix it. :(

Actually I am using a G9708 with Android Q (One UI 2.0), it is a carrier specific model of G9700. I still don't have TWRP, but have already rooted my phone using magisk. Here are some instructions I followed, hope that helps.

Don't update to Magisk 20.0, there are issues with it on Qualcomm devices.
