I see. Sorry, stupid question. I had no idea. I'm not a developer. Thanks for giving us twrp and keep up the good work.

What exactly would you like to be maintained other than what is currently functional? The sources are reviewed and revised if need be every time TeamWin releases a new version, especially if something in the sources would prevent the new version from being properly compiled by TeamWin's build server.

Had a problem with the latest install on my i9195, the process I did was:

I installed the TWRP App from playstore, then downloaded the 3.2.3-0 recovery for my device, then hit install
(I had the custom-twrp-3.2.0-1-serranoltexx-STABLE-signed.zip installed)
then I rebooted to the recovery and all of a sudden, it started in flashing something screen then rebooted.
My device was reset and deleted all my apps and left my phone as if I had just installed the ROM...
Now I have no latest backup no logcat no nothing.
Just a heads-up for everyone using the app to install the recovery.

It is so easy to install a recovery without twrp app.

Yeah it is. Most of the time I do. But was in a rush and used the app. (If in a rush STOP and do BACKUPS).

I was kinda not reporting, reporting a bad app.
(cause I have no logs, so there it is)

Just a heads up for people to do backups before doing ANYTHING even the actual tool that does the backups.:D

Thanks for your helpful comment.;)

My father broke his GT-I9195 today, its "just" the display and digitizer which is broken.
He had it completely on stock firmware, not even ADB is enabled. Now he wants me to secure all his data if possible.
I didn't find any information whether you need to unlock your BL on this phone and whether installing TWRP will wipe /data
Could you please give me a short answer to this?
If I understand it correct I just have to flash TWRP via ODIN and thats it. TWRP has adb enabled, so I can work on the phone without a display.

It would make it a bit easier than directly accessing the eMMC

To the best of my knowledge, no carrier that had offered the GT-I9195 had locked its bootloader. Installing TWRP will not by itself wipe any partitions, well except Recovery.

Have you i9195i version, twrp-3.3.0.0-serranoveltexx?
I also would like to have a newer TWRP recovery version for the I9195I Value Edition, especially since the newest version available cannot decrypt the data partition.

Please ripee is it able to get at least the decryption done? I would send you 10 bucks haha. Well, I know it is not easy and takes time and if I could help I would. Thanks so much!

I cannot speak to any twrp for serranoveltexx being able to decrypt your data partition, as it is a separate device. Can I try building twrp for it? Sure, the sources are updated available, but no guarantees.

Good question. Their github account is github.com/galaxy-msm8916
I believe that would be the developer (ex-developer?) whose xda screen name is @Danil_e71 and whose ROM work has come a long way over past few years. He recently had a new daughter, and has been less active around here since. I'm still using his LOS-16 in one of my S4 Mini's, and sincerely hope he will be back soon with LOS-17 and Android 10.

Does the latest version 3.3.1-0 support the new system-as-root in Android 10 (LineageOS 17.1) ?
You can use the official TWRP to flash lineage-17.1, but if you want to do anything in the rom's folder structure while in TWRP, keep in mind that TWRP mounts the system partition in the /system/system folder, not /system.
