A few more tests on the backup/restore. I did get one attempt to actually restore without error, but it only happens after restoring a backup made with the previous version.

I can load a previous TWRP (3.3.1-4) and make a backup of the Android 10 system and then load the latest TWRP release and restore it (and boot).

I get the same error trying to restore the A10 backup in the older TWRP

Well redo all and still SOD when tablet go to sleep.
But I know tablet is ON for the notifications sounds. Only the screen cannot turn it on.

Rebooted and this is worst than I thought; nothing really works, touch screen, it is not responsive, try to get a log with logcat but even that cannot get root and it is really unusable.
Not sure what it wrong. I used all files in 10 folder + Magisk 20.04 zip file
I think something is wrong with kernel or encryption disabler.

That's strange, I'll look up the notes for 3.4.0 as I haven't changed anything in the build config. Must be something in the new source

Do you mind going into twrp and taking some screen shots?

Go into backup - take a screenshot
Go into file manager - go to / - screenshot
Mount system, go to / - screenshot.

Thanks

What was it?

Sorry for that it was a mix kernel, I use another Kernel, I think this is the now the time to cleanup my Rom Dir.

BTW speaking of backup Has file name change in 10 and permissions? It looks titanium backup cannot restore any file, restore is not even available even if Titanium find the file.

Partitions are back and even the time fixed itself. Testing now - will update.

Seems to be a winner. Can restore compressed backups and normal without issue

Is it possible to flash only or need to redo all?
Maybe Kernel- Encryption disabler- magisk on top of what we already have to not have to reflash with Odin?

Your thoughts?
Thank you very much Metalmuso to keep our tablet up to date
The reason there is a version that is an img file, is to be able to simply flash the twrp.img from within an existing twrp installation.

The only reason you'd need to flash the kernel, magisk and encryption disabler again would be if you were on complete stock firmware

From within twrp, simply flash the new twrp.img to the recovery partition, done.

Not sure where I went wrong (device keeps on rebooting) but these are the steps I followed for SM-T830:

1. Boot into Download mode and Flash TWRP using Odin (AP)
2. Immediately boot into TWRP after flashing takes place, hold vol up and power.
3. Format data partition (wipe/format data)
4. Reboot recovery
5. Copy WETA Kernel + Encryption disabler
6. Flash WETA Kernel (Recovery) then Encrypt disabler
7. Reboot to system <-- Device stuck on first logo and reboots every 10 seconds

Thank you in advance for your help! :)

Edit1: Tried to boot into recovery but instead it actually went to Samsung logo (will wait 5 mins and see/reboot to see if it works)
Edit2: It booted to system after waiting for 5 minutes at the logo

Does TWRP stick after you boot to system? I powered off my device and tried to go to TWRP to flash magisk but it just won't go there, it keeps on going to system. Unless the combo key changed? I tried Power + Vol Up numerous times. Doesn't even go to stock recovery :p

Edit: Flashed TWRP again..

1) First boot to TWRP
2) Flashed Encrypt disabler
3) Format data
4) Reboot to Recovery
5) Flashed WETA Kernel (Recovery)
6) Flashed Magisk
7) Power off
8) Turned device on and waited 5 minutes, followed the initial setup
9) Installed Magisk Manager to see if device is Rooted - Not Rooted
10) Powered off and pressed the Power + Vol Up to reboot to recovery (Does not boot to recovery, always boots to system).

Be sure you are flashing the weta kernel to the boot partition. If you flash it to recovery that would wipe out twrp
