Sorry but i need to ask, have you updated to Android 10? as this new update wil only work for 10
hi
I downloaded android 10 folder from this link and used below instructions

1. Boot into Download mode and Flash TWRP using Odin (AP)
2. Immediately boot into TWRP after flashing takes place, hold vol up and power.
3. Format data partition (wipe/format data)
4. Reboot recovery
5. Copy WETA Kernel + Encryption disabler
6. Flash WETA Kernel (Recovery) then Encrypt disabler
7. Reboot to system <-- Device stuck on first logo and reboots every 10 seconds

Thank you in advance for your help!

Edit1: Tried to boot into recovery but instead it actually went to Samsung logo (will wait 5 mins and see/reboot to see if it works)
Edit2: It booted to system after waiting for 5 minutes at the logo

Does TWRP stick after you boot to system? I powered off my device and tried to go to TWRP to flash magisk but it just won't go there, it keeps on going to system. Unless the combo key changed? I tried Power + Vol Up numerous times. Doesn't even go to stock recovery :p

Edit: Flashed TWRP again..

1) First boot to TWRP
2) Flashed Encrypt disabler
3) Format data
4) Reboot to Recovery
5) Flashed WETA Kernel (Recovery)
6) Flashed Magisk
7) Power off
8) Turned device on and waited 5 minutes, followed the initial setup
9) Installed Magisk Manager to see if device is Rooted - Not Rooted
10) Powered off and pressed the Power + Vol Up to reboot to recovery (Does not boot to recovery, always boots to system).
after device booted I found that device not rooted

what should I do

I can confirm that the instructions worked well for Android 10!

Unfortunately I had to revert back to a standard setup because I rely on Google Family Link for managing the tablet and once you enable Google Family Link it locks the bootloader. Trying to boot a locked bootloader having custom recovery while have added a Google account to Android triggers Factory Reset Protection (FRP).

I assume the reason Google Family Link locks the bootloader is because it relys on mobile device management capabilities provided by the OS and these require a stock setup for ensuring its integrity.

Too bad Google Family Link has such a nice UI and overall integration into Android. Previously tried Kaspersky but the user experience was nowhere near.

Question, how do you restore twrp backup as I tried but dont boot and after restoring, reboot every 10 seconds? I got only error opening sdd4 read only and error at the end of restore. I did factory reset, wipe all but SD. Format data the second time i tried.
Thank you

Hello

Thank you very much, Mentalmuso.

I have one last question. Since TWRP is it possible to flash kernel.img ?

I thought that it was obligatory to have a ZIP file.

Hi Enotar

Could you please tell me how did you solve the problem of not being able to turn the screen on even that the tablet is on? You mention a mix kernel. I downloaded the weta kernel from the link in the original post.

Thanks

Hey, I want to try A10Rom but I can't(im not able...) flash recovery. I'm on stock A9: never mod. When I try to flash " TWRP...3.4.0-6.tar" with Odin failed the operation and on tablet' s display appears "only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed(recovery)".
I tried to follow these notes:
From 9 unlock OEM (Backup Before)
Odin TWRP latest in OP (Untick auto reboot)
Reboot in Recovery not kernel
Format data
Wipe all but SD Card, then Factory reset
Flash Rom
No need to wipe dalvik and cache
Reboot
.
Have I to follow first post? change recovery vers?update A10?
Thnks

Interesting. I've faced a strange bug: after installing (step by step as mentioned in the instruction) the tablet works only with closed cover of its case. It seems that the sensor has been inverted somehow. And the issue starts after the very first screen locking. Tried to reinstall from stock for several times, but facing the issue for every time. I think the problem is in the custom kernel.

[SOLVED] Sorry, didn't notice the discussion before. Flash kernel IMG from recovery (not ZIP via Odin). That works.

2mentalmuso, it should be great to mention about this way in the instruction. Thanks! And respect for your work!

A bug again. After rebooting the fully set up device it can not load again, reboots after a couple of seconds every time.

UPD: re-flashing kernel and unrooting didn't help. Seems to be a conflict between the stock rom and the kernel.

Hi people, just a question: does rooting trip permanently the Knox counter like on other Samsung smartphones?

How about OTAs? Will they be blocked?

I've been away from the Samsung modding community for a while :)
