Texas ?
ok i have somehow done it again.. my phone says its corrupted can't be trusted and will not boot this happened after doin a factory reset in twrp as a magisk module screwed me over then flashing magisk again and now i can't enter the twrp does any have a ftf file for h4113 device? possibly 50.1.A.4.102 or 50.1.A.5.59?
You don't need the ftf file. Just get flashtool and find a 50.1.A.4.102 file for your h4113 and flash it. Use 4.102 if you use xposed tho

nops am not using exposed but can you clarify that a bit that i don't need ftf files? as i downloaded my firmware from xperifirm and i got a folder that contains the files but the flash tool from androxyde needs ftf files no? or theres another flash tool that doesn't need the ftf file format? if so could you please link me to it? as i tried to make multiple ftf files on the old windows pc (which never finished) so i asked my friend to make 3 already and all said the bundle can't be unpacked both on the windows pc and on my MacBook.

Just get the firmware for your device off Xperifirm which is included in flashtool, and it'll load into flashtool

I'm having trouble booting TWRP on my XA2 Ultra (H4213)

I have successfully unlocked my bootloader with the code from the Sony website. The mobile rebooted and factory reset itself after that.

Booting TWRP with fastboot fails:

karoshi:/tmp/q#fastboot -i 0x0fce boot recovery.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
FAILED (command write failed (Cannot send after transport endpoint shutdown))
finished. total time: 0.002s

after that the phone boots into the charging screen (it shows the battery and the current charge level)

I got it to boot TWRP once, but am not able to reproduce it.

I'm a bit at a loss here. Can anyone help me getting TWRP on this device?

I also could not get flashing to work. But! I found a workaround. I tried it on my Windows PC, and after getting fastboot to work there, the "fastboot boot recovery.img" works fine.

No idea what's different on Linux / why it wouldn't work there - for now I can live with that.

If you pardon my silly question: how do i boot into recovery on the xa2? I mean "adb reboot recovery" works, but is there a button that I can hold on poweron?

how do i install twrp?? there is no instructions.
You can't flash it permanently, but you can use it with:
Code:
fastboot boot path/to/twrp.img
(you can find this command on official page).

Make sure you're using latest fastboot version (you can get it from Google).

It should be power + volume down (source).

Backup and Restore XA2

Hi folks,

i tried to backup and restore sony boot, system, data and lineage boot, system, data. The restored sony system go to a boot loop and the lineage boots in infinity. Is there a way to use TWRP for a successful restore?

best,

Is there a methode to flash it permamently, so i can enter it with a key combination?
fastboot flash recovery is not working.
On Xperia XA2, the recovery is bundled into the boot partition along with the kernel: so, there's no actual recovery partition, that's why you can't flash it permanently. The only permanent recovery is the one included in the boot image (Lineage Recovery for LineageOS or stock recovery for stock firmware).
This affects all the new devices, more informations here: https://source.android.com/devices/tech/ota/ab/ab_implement#recovery.

It patches the kernel with magiskboot tool replacing its ramdisk.
I've never used it: I don't know why it doesn't work, but I also don't know if it has ever worked. :\
Does it give you any error or warning while flashing?
Nope it does not.
But i want to "restore" DRM Keys with XperiFix and it says on XA2 i need twrp recovery installed, and i want to get it booting before purchasing XperiFix.

EDIT: I tried the 3.2.2.0 ZIP of TWRP and now it works. 3.2.3.0 seems to be broken.
Sent from my Sony H3113 using XDA Labs

Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or twrp3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

Right, so "only" fastboot boot *.img, thx
I wonder where the inbuilt Sony recovery is stored then ?
    In /boot.

Hello. I'd like to root my Xperia XA2 Ultra, and I would like to backup TA partition (Sony DRM etc.) so I can restore it after rooting. If someone can tell me how to do it, I would appreciate it.
    Thanks.
You can't back them up, you don't really need them though. The camera works fine without them on tue XA2

Wait what. I've held off on rooting until the kinks get worked out. That and I haven't ever done it with a Sony device before. My understanding is that Sony DRM can be lost forever if not done correctly. What exact functionality would I lose?

So how would I go about keeping (saving for later) the drm if possible? I'm assuming unlocking bootloader, twrp, rooting and installing xposed is normal.

I just don't want to mess up to the point of no return. Sony drm, tremble, a/b system and google pay are anomalies I haven't dealt with before. My device is the XA2 Ultra H3223 on build 50.1.A.5.59 (latest), which means I should hold off on xposed :(. It automatically updated on me.
Google Pay works as long as Xposed isn't installed which would be the case given the firmware you've updated to.

Basically, you lose absolutely no functionality... Camera, Google Pay are working.

On older Sony devices the Camera functionality was lost with the DRM info, but not on this device.

How do I install 3.2.1-1 if there is only 3.2.1-0 install zip available?
I'm in process of getting new installer package so you just got to wait.

    @LuK1337
How does it work then, since it's an a/b device (first for Sony) i mean will twrp be booted in slot _b or how? And the Same fastboot flash, will it also flash to slot _b, meaning the inbuilt Sony recovery won't be touched (vol- + power on bootup)
Anyway interesting, I will try it on my spare H4313
BTW the xposed issue is related to March sec patch https://github.com/rovo89/Xposed/issues/339
    1. Fastboot boot boots as your current slot
    2. You can't fastboot flash it as there is no recovery partition.
