Thanks for not leaving me alone.

The phone is "new" to me, thus no data is in danger and I'm ready to do any wipe.
I can boot up the phone to download mode via vol- and power and boot into bootloader from there as well.
Booting into bootloader is NOT the problem.
When booting into recovery from the bootloader, I get the same bootloop as in "normal" boot.

I was on oreo before installing LeeDroid, with OS 3.18.206.1.
That is the reason I can't simply flash an ruu. I don't have a current .206. RUU with the o2___ CID, and older RUUs won't work because of the oreo firmware, as the signature keys are hardcoded in the firmware. Firmware rollback to nougat requires a working twrp.

I did not flash a RUU via fastboot but via zip-on-sd, getting the signature error mentioned before.
I did flash several twrp versions (3.2.1.4, 3.21.3, 3.2.1.2) since the bootloop occured without success.
I also did flash the boot.img I extracted and renamed from the twrp backup.

Hi,

The Downloads tab is for unofficial releases. The official site is for official releases, which, according to the OP, the new version is. There's the announcement you're referring to, the Change log in the OP, and the update of the Stable version at the bottom of the OP. The FAQ also says that the version that should be used is the latest official version, listed as 3.2.2-0. Seems pretty straightforward to me, so I'm not sure where the confusion was.

and many

under that.

i get this in TWRP if i try to do a `restore`. it has been like this ever since i received my Verizon 10 back from the mail-in rooting service. what steps should i take to fix this? The mail-in service did root it, but i need to install ROMs! i'm a little rusty on all this stuff so pardon if it's been covered.

Any insight would be great!
i am Verizon HTC 10, TWRP 3.1.1-0.

UPDATE! in case this helps anyone else, i updated TWRP and that fixed it! **Face-Palm Emoji**

This is LineageOS 14 (Nougat) where it works fine.

    TWRP Image Install method:
    Most devices can be updated quickly and easily within TWRP if you already have version 2.8.4.0 or higher installed.
    1. Download the latest version of TWRP appropriate for your device/firmware
    2. Reboot to TWRP
    3. Hit Install and tap the "Install Image" button in the lower right
    4. Browse to the location of the TWRP image on your device and select it
    5. Select recovery from the partition list and swipe to flash

    Alternate Installation Method:
    Fastboot Install Method:
    You will need the platform-tools from the Android SDK on your computer. Find the Android command line tools section on the page linked and install the SDK tools package. From the SDK Manager, download only the platform-tools to get adb and fastboot binaries.

    Windows users will need proper drivers installed on their computer. You can try the Naked ADB drivers or the Universal ADB drivers if you don't already have a working driver installed

    On your device, go into Settings -> About and find the Build Number and tap on it 7 times to enable developer settings. Press back and go into Developer Options and enable USB debugging. From your computer, open a command prompt and type:

The changes to the graphics back-end may cause some devices to not boot up properly or have other display-related issues. If you are not in a position to reflash an older build of TWRP, then wait until you are or at least wait until others have tried the new version for your specific device. You don’t want to end up with a non-working recovery and have to wait several hours or days to get to a computer to be able to fix it.

Further, the script also usually runs an SHA sum of the entire system partition to detect if any changes have been made. If any changes have been made, the OTA update will refuse to install. Since not all OEMs and devices have factory images available, we have created a new feature in TWRP that detects if the system partition has ever been mounted read/write. If not, you will be prompted asking if you want TWRP to mount system as read/write. If you choose not to allow TWRP to mount as read/write, TWRP won’t prompt to install SuperSU and TWRP won’t try to patch the stock ROM to prevent TWRP from being replaced by stock recovery. The goal of this option is to hopefully allow the user to make a raw system image backup that they can use to get back to a state where they can take OTA updates again.
[*]resize2fs feature: On some devices like the Nexus 6, the factory images include a userdata image that is the proper size only for the 32GB units. If you flash the factory image to a 64GB Nexus 6, the data partition will appear as if it only has the free space of a 32GB device. Using the resize2fs option, TWRP can resize your data partition to take up the full space available. The resize2fs may also be useful to resize system partitions on devices where custom ROM system images don’t take up the full partition space. Lastly, resize2fs may be useful in some cases to reserve the proper space at the end of a data partition for a full disk encryption key, should your partition be formatted incorrectly for some reason.

    Bug Reporting
    If you have an issue, the first step is to post a recovery log so we can determine the cause of the issue. This is done in recovery using Advanced -> Copy Log, or adb pull /tmp/recovery.log. Once a log is uploaded we can determine how best to proceed. NOTE: Posts that are reporting bugs or issues without an accompanying recovery log will be ignored! Additionally, providing details about your device setup, including variant, firmware version, and exact steps to reproduce your issue will also be helpful in diagnosing the problem.

    If your issue is determined to be a bug by the device maintainer, please consider posting it to our github issues log. It's pretty much impossible for us to keep up with the more than 40 threads that we have for the devices that we "directly" support.     Added 3.0.3-0-UNOFFICIAL to the Downloads Tab. This version will replace all previous versions.

    With this release, TWRP has been updated to be backwards compatible with Marshmallow/CM encryption, so it should work regardless of what firmware/software/Android version/whatever you're running. As always, @nkk71 and I have been working tirelessly to fix the issues people were facing with TWRP, including the AROMA freezing issues some people were facing. That seemed to be a result of /system getting locked up due to the method we were using to mount it and subsequently decrypt with vold. Some adjustments have been made, and everything seems to be working much better.

    So please, give this latest version a try and let us know if you have any issues. As always, please heap thanks and praise upon nkk71 for all his hard work on this!

    P.S. If you have issues with this latest version, don't forget to post a recovery log, as described in the "BUGS" section of the OP :).

    So, I posted a debug version of 3.0.2-7 to the Downloads tab. Thanks to @nkk71, we now have a GUI. What isn't working is decryption. That'll take some more time. And please, no ETA requests.

    The issue I described previously with gunzip was still present with the Busybox built into TWRP, so I borrowed @topjohnwu's Busybox from Magisk (thanks @YashdSaraf) and included that in the build so everything *should* flash okay.

    Additionally, like previously when decryption didn't work, TWRP Settings won't be saved, and time will be off in recovery and on any backup files produced. But it's good enough to flash kernels and custom ROMs with, so enjoy, and we'll keep working.

    And also thanks to the people that have donated to both myself, topjohnwu and nkk71. Working on this stuff can be very time consuming and stressful, so a little monetary appreciation really does help us keep going. Thanks for all the support, and happy flashing!! :D

    Dirty changelog for 3.0.2-7 DEBUG:
    - Updated kernel source to 2.28.617.8 from HTC Dev (Nougat)
    - Removed HTC_DEBUG flags from kernel (thanks @crpalmer)
    - Enabled f2fs support (but no real reason why, since there's no encryption support - that's a future project)
