Double check the name of the file..there might be another suffix out there, like recovery.img.img

I've managed to install TWRP and get Root on my PRA-LX2..

So now, I've got:

Root
Busybox
Viper4Android
Root Explorer

can you tell where to download viper4android,and a litlle help how to configure it to work properly,i have root and busybox, thanks
Search for Viper4Arise. I've downloaded the entire flashable zip, extracted the Viper4arise, installed like a normal app. Grant root, disable SELinux via the Viper4Arise Settings, install drivers, reboot, and you're good to go! Oh, it may take a few reboots and installs of the drivers to make it work for some reason. Also, the SELinux gets back to enforcing after each reboot so you have to disable it each time to make Viper work.

How to Backup Your Firmware:

  • Reboot to TWRP by press on Vol up .
  • Go to Mount.
  • Uncheck the following partitions: Cache, Data & System.
  • Back to main menu and click on Backup, choose all partitions and swipe to start backup firmware to sdcard then.

Thanks for the guide!

I rooted my P8 Lite 2017 without any problems :)

Just for reference my build number is PRA-LX1C02B140 vodafone branded.

I am new to android so I had a lot of 'unknown words' before I could proceed with your guide.
I'd love to see some custom roms for this phone since Huawei decided it was 'wise' to completely remove the SIP accounts and Phone Encrypt options from the menus. Unless there's a way to bring them back now that I have root!

Actually I'm trying to port aosp 7 by using prebuilt kernel since Huawei decide to remove all sources, let's see how will succeed :)

Hi there!
Thanks for posting this guide.

I have a problem when I do this step: "now run the command: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img && fastboot reboot"
Basically, nothing happens. The file name is ok (recovery.img), I have also put it in adb directory (where fastboot.exe is) but nothing happens. The P8 is still in fastboot screen and I have no error message in computer. Do you have any idea about why this doesn't work with me?

Btw, I have already unlocked the bootloader, so now both phone and frp are unlocked.

Thanks in advance.

If you have windows 8/10 you need to disable driver signature if the device is not recognized by fastboot and also make sure to unlock the bootloader & frp.

Thanks for trying to help.
I have Windows 10 and I have removed adb, HiSuite and all the drivers from my system. Then I followed the steps to disable the driver signature (http://packard-bell-scandic.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/38288/~/windows-10%3A-disable-signed-driver-enforcement) and then I installed everything again (I'm using adb-setup-1.4.3 and HiSuite_5.0.2.300_OVE - I think it's the latest version of both).

In fastmode I have this:
PHONE Unlocked
FRP Unlock

So, I understand that both bootloader and frp are unlocked (I have done it via adb yesterday and was ok)

It seems adb commands work in windows because if I run the command fastboot reboot, it reboots the phone, so for sure the adb is working. The problem is that when I run any other command like fastboot flash recovery recovery.img && fastboot reboot, it simply doesn't do nothing both in windows and in android (it keeps the fastboot&rescue mode screen without any changes).

Btw, I don't know if it is relevant or not, but I don't have any SD card mounted on it.

Am I doing something wrong? Do you have any idea? Is there any other way to flash twrp? I really need to remove this vodafone rom out of my cellphone.

I would really appreciate your help if possible.

Try to install this tool
http://hak86.altervista.org/install-android-fastboot-tools-using-windows/
once cmd is opened do the following command
fastboot flash recovery (type space one time and drag the image into cmd then press enter)
P.S. : i did on linux and windows without problems ;)

Good morning
A huge thanks for this recovery!
Backups work with only extsdcard mounted...
adb works also well on mac with the drag and drop procedure.
Pushed boot-root image through twrp as magisk and supersu are not working and my internal memory is now encrypted...
Do you see what this could be (first huawei, coming from samsung)?
Nice day
PS: C109B110 firmware (orange europe)

because it's encryption related to kernel I think, that Huawei didn't release yet for our phone.
