I think the problem is the compression. Without compression no problems on internal storage and externe sd.

Sent from my EVA-L09 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Again, error 255 with rc3, Firmware EVA L09C432B136.
with Xposed-v85.1-sdk23-arm64-custom-build-by-wanam 20.160530 installed
Backup without compression to external SD card
Log and screendump TWRP map attached
Greetings

today tried flashing open GApps (aroma version) and it used to get stuck on the welcome screen immediately after clicking the next button.

also, backup was failing when data partition was selected..this was backing up on sd card..

i tried flashing the recovery but even after success the phone doesn't boot to twrp but to the huawei erecovery. any suggestions? my phone's model is EVA-L19

Finally tried the recovery posted here and it worked. http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/guide-root-huawei-p9-t3367800
I'm having the same problem on EVA-L09. Also the other guide doesn't work - same thing, the twrp upload & write goes succesfully, but after rebooting it goes to EMUI recovery...

If I remember correctly you need to boot to custom recovery straight after flashing it (before you reboot device): adb reboot recovery. This way TWRP should stick. Has been this way on P7 and P8 as well.

I had that issue, the fix was to flash stock recovery, restore to the stock ROM provided by Paul and then flash the recovery. I assume something in the newer versions stops it installing properly?

I found a solution:
In fact twrp already install when you see the process success, but the right way to access twrp is press VOL up + Power when phone is off.
If you power on the phone and press vol up for 3 second as what the screen prompt you , you will go into stock recovery.

@paulobrien

Hi,

Are you still developing this TWRP for the P9 as it's been over a month since the rc3 update?

I assume you may be having trouble solving the error 255 issue, if so, can any of us on here assist in any way? (Not that I'd personally be much help with coding I'm afraid, but you never know!)

I did manage to find and install a TWRP from a Chinese forum (Lol at google translate!), but it had the same issue, so was probably only yours repackaged.

Cheers

Hi mate!

Yes, I am - I've been working on getting a raft of TWRP releases officially supported for Huawei devices, including the P9 / Eva - http://www.modaco.com/news/android/...ilable-for-8-more-huawei-honor-devices-r1654/

This has been my top priority recently, because official support means things are smoother going forward for fixes, TWRP updates and much more.

With regards to error 255 I am still investigating - it seems to affect a whole load of devices, not just Huaweis, so I'm still working on it.

Hi Paul :)

I've installed your Recovery with SRK Tool and when i try to make a Backup, i have this error :

I've made a backup and this error appear. When i reboot my P9, the backup isn't in the internal memory but the size take by the backup are occuped, (5.6GB) when i reboot to Recovery, the backup isn't noticeable in the internal memory...

I tried to make a backup in external SD but i have the error 255.

The error said me the TWRP folder isn't created, i have to create it ?

Thanks.
