(Power off your device. Press Volume up and hold then press Power on) you'll see fastboot on your screen :) after this, connect it to your PC

Worked as a charm.

Is it wise not to install it and only run it from PC?
I would prefer to boot the phone in twrp mode.

Sorry for bumping, but I hope somebody can guide me to a conclusion. Should I make make this twrp a default boot option or should I always enter it from a PC.
My wish is to have this as a default part of booting

The only thing that must be run from a PC is the tool in the OP.

The tool then installs the recovery on your phone.

A recovery is NOT part of the boot or of the ROM you are using.

Once installed, if you want to directly access your recovery, either :
_ Power off your device.
_ Press and hold volume down, then press Power on until the Recovery screen comes up.

Or

_ From the ROM's Settings, in the System menu, go into the the Developers options.
_ Enable Advanced Reboot option.

Then, you can press the power button until the reboot menu appears and choose to directly reboot to Recovery.
