Hi, I've found little problem.
I have rooted with S4mini zip.
It is really good but I can not connect to sshd which is started on my phone (SSHDroidPro).
I'm using putty and after connecting and enterring user/password the putty window immediately close.

you should had used a wrong zip file...just use odin 3.09 and GT-I9195_RootKit_v2. they just work perfect.

Are you very certain your phone line and sim card are 4G capable?

I remember reading that them option doesn't show unless the sim card and phone line are compatible with 4G networks.

it maybe so. however, we are still expecting to have 4G anytime now in my country and was curious.

the surprise to me was that i also have Sony XPERIA V, and with the same sim card the option appears

It could be just a precautionary measure by Samsung so users wouldn't send their phones in if they enable the LTE option and realise they never ever get a LTE Connection and think it's the problem with the phone but really is an issue with their phone subscription / carrier not supporting LTE instead.

I could be wrong though so maybe someone familiar with how those options display could chime in?

Hello and many thanks for your OP ! I have a few questions for you ... At the time i rooted my device i missed to press vol.up / home buttons when rebooting after flashing the custom recovery via Odin so i switched off the phone and then powered it back on by pressing correct buttons and entered successfully in recovery ... so i guess this step can be skipped or missed and done later right ? What about the insecure kernel ... optional step ?

I've rooted my phone following your OP but ended up on flashing the custom recovery because at that time your "S4Mini_RootKit_v1.zip" file was not available ... then i flashed SuperSU v.1.65 from recovery but that is all; i noticed that in your package there is also busybox ... what i'm missing since my phone is rooted with OTA update check available and without "warnings about applications doing not permitted actions" ?

Thanks for your reply,

Regards

Hmm, is it safe for me to use this method to root my LTE version S4 Mini if Samsung KIES can't identify my phone's firmware since my carrier probably made their own alternations? Or would that mean I have a different kernel and would need a custom solution?

And if it does mean I'd need a custom solution then can you help with that?

WARNING! ONLY USE THIS ON THE GT-I9195 MODEL!

Hello all S4 Mini owners!

I'm happy to finally release ClockworkMod recovery and an insecure kernel for the GT-I9195. With these two installed on your device, obtaining root is easy.

Attached to this post is the necessary files needed for this task. Download the following files:

  • Odin_v3.09.zip (if don't have it already)
  • recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.7-serranoltexx.tar.zip
  • S4Mini_RootKit_v1.zip (contains SuperSU v1.65 and BusyBox v1.21.1)
Extract recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.7-serranoltexx.tar.zip file to your computer.

The procedure is as:

  1. Copy the " S4Mini_RootKit_v1.zip" to your device SD card.
  2. Turn off the phone.
  3. Press and hold home, volume down and power. Download screen should appear.
  4. Connect USB cable, and press volume up.
  5. Start Odin, uncheck "F. Reset Time", and then click AP button.
  6. Select "recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.7-serranoltexx.tar.md5" file that you previously extracted, and press Start button. The phone will reboot when finished.
  7. After the phone resets (it vibrates) IMMEDIATELY hold volume up and home buttons to boot into recovery mode.
  8. Select the option to install the ZIP file you have previously copied to your device and begin flashing it.
  9. After flashing using CWM, reboot into system and enjoy your rooted device.
To get rid of the the warnings about applications doing not permitted actions, delete the following files from system/app

  • KNOXAgent.apk
  • KNOXStore.apk
  • ContainerAgent.apk

i did everything and it went just fine but KNOXAgent.apk and ContainerAgent.apk won't delete. It keeps saying read-only can't delete... HELP!!!!

I'm still working on CM, and have the last few days been struggling with rewriting the audio config that defines mixer control and usages. Samsung uses completely different names than what's in the audio hal in CM, and rewriting it and testing is a huge pain. And then on top of that Android 4.3 was released, so even more work bringing that up too.

[OFF-TOPIC] What do you think about releasing a second CM9/CM10 EOL for our old Galaxy W to include the MasterKey exploit patches? I don't think it's a good idea to leave us with security risks :)[/OFF-TOPIC]

Yes, there will be new releases of that soon. But keep that discussion to the Galaxy W forums. :)

Quick question before I root it, what do you mean by "insecure"? Certainly not shy, but as in unstable or as in unsafe?

An insecure kernel has disabled the root prevention checks that Samsung added. Other than that it's the same as stock kernel. Although in this kernel I also made two minor changes to allow apps to read the kernel log and the full logcat.
