Tab s3 master thread please

This is awesome news. But guys (admin), we need a dedicated master thread for the Tab S3 and have this moved over there. To mix the S2 and the new S3 in the same thread is a total mess. These two tabs are more than 2 years apart and are totally different hardware. Thanks.

Very good news! Thank you both @ashyx and @suzook for your work!!! :)

Am I right with the assumption that all Tab S3 are delivered currently with the Snapdragon 820 as CPU so that TWRP and root will work with all T-820 all over the world or will there be different versions (e.g. Qualcom and Exynos)?

Sorry for the completely unrelated question, but how the heck can you get your hands on a tab s3 ? I live in Australia, been scouting the web and couldn't find anything. :(

@ashyx deserves all the credit. He did all the work, I just flashed. It seems like all are Qualcom.

I am a bit confused.....That .log is an earlier log, and I did try to flash both ways, and neither way worked. The only way to get root for me is use the last file you posted.https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298943936
I wanted to make sure that flashing the boot patcher before supersu wasn't causing the issue of SuperSU not finding the boot partition.
I have posted a bug to Chainfire, just wanted to ensure its a problem with supersu.

Hello. I'm going to go a little OT here, but please cut me some slack. I'm following this thread closely because I'm needing a new tablet and the S3 looks perfect, but I insist on being able to root whatever I buy. My questions come from a long background in rooting, but I'm mostly a follow-the-recipe type of guy and all my recent experience has been with Sony Xperia's and Nexus devices. A lot of the terminology relating to Samsung rooting is beyond my comprehension. So...

With this TWRP 3.1 and SuperSU, do I get full root access?

Is it a permanent root or will I need to flash something on reboot?

What is Samsung's warranty response after rooting this way? If I have a hardware issue that no reasonable person would relate to the root, is it likely, unlikely, or a definite no-go that Samsung will help?

I don't think I care about Knox, Samsung Pay, Android Pay. Do I lose anything else that I should care about?

Given my limited experience level, are there unreasonable bricking risks (assuming due care and not being totally stupid) to try this?

Thanks much for your efforts to get this far and any advice you can provide.

Can confirm, camera does not work with root. No FC message or anything, just a brief black screen with two buttons, then back to the home screen.

Edit: there is a brief message that sometimes appears: 'Camera keeps stopping.'

And here is a logcat output of the camera error:

Try a third party camera app. It's likely a permissions issue. It has been reported to Chainfire.

No camera app works. I also found out auto rotate breaks too. What I have done is made whatever modifications I need/want rooted, then flash the original boot back, and camera and rotate is back, but obviously root is gone.
