I actually can't even get past the beginning.

EDIT : I JUST NEED AN OLDER COMPUTER!?!?!?

What the hell... My Alienware apparently is too good to do this like what? I was able to root a very old tablet I had perfectly but not this Tab S4.
Please explain in more detail. More info required. At what point are you experiencing issues?

i wonder if its a Dell thing... I tried to root on 2 Dells but couldn't until i used Odin on an old Surface Pro (1st gen)... Dell owns Alienware for those who don't know, aaaand also sells Samsung products from their own website.

has anyone here rooted their Tab S4 with a Dell or Alienware machine?

By rooted to you mean flashing with ODIN? If ODIN isn't working its usually a driver issue.

So Xposed is working on the Tab S4? I want to pick up a sm-t835 and always like to check root and xposed status on xda before purchasing.
Yes. I don't have the latest build, but the older one has Xposed working just fine (although I only use a single module - MinMinGuard).

Thanks, my S4 arrives in a few days so trying to get everything ready for it. Which version of xposed are you using? Are you using systemless Xposed or a normal full installation?

This guide or you're useless? Over 2000 successful installs.
Read the instructions again and do more research.

Unofficial release -TWRP recovery for the Galaxy Tab S4 2018 - SM-T830/T835 MSM8998

*****INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:*****

Flash with ODIN in the AP slot.

1. Put your device in DOWNLOAD mode.
(Hold POWER + VOL DOWN + VOL UP) ]

2. Run ODIN and uncheck Auto reboot.

3. Load the file below into the AP slot and hit start.
twrp_3.2.3-1_t830_26918

4. After flashing and ODIN reports PASS immediately force reboot to recovery. Do NOT let the device boot to the OS.
You should now see TWRP recovery.

[...]
FEEDBACK IS APPRECIATED PLEASE.
THANKS.

I tried this on my SM-T835.
Step 1: I can not put my device into download mode by holding Power + Vol Up and Vol Down. But it works with the PowerShell and the command "adb reboot download". And i tried it by going into Android recovery by holding Power + Vol Up (which works perfectly). Then i choose "reboot to bootloader" what brings me to the Download mode
Step 2: Done!
Step 3: Done! Maybe it is important that i couldnt download the file with Chrome because Chrome blocks the download ""This file is dangerous, so Chrome has blocked it". So i tried Edge and Edge tells me the same but there i can choose to download it anyways. So at the end i have the .tar file on my desktop and i loaded it into the AP Slot.
After hitting the start button, ODIN 3.13.1 hangs "<ID:0/006> File analysis.."
I tried older versions of ODIN and with 3.11.1 i can solve the File analysis problem, but at the next step Odin says "<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)"
And i tried to change the sequences:
Download mode -> connect to PC -> start ODIN -> load the file into AP -> hit start
Download mode -> start ODIN -> load file into AP -> connect to PC -> hit start
start Odin -> load file -> Download mode -> connect -> start
start Odin -> download mode -> connect -> load file -> start
and and and
and starting ODIN as Admin and normal and change USB Port and change PC and install older versions of the USB Drivers and and and

After 8 hours of "doing more research" i followed one of the last steps: "FEEDBACK IS APPRECIATED PLEASE. THANKS."

I had no intention of insulting or attacking ashyx. I also read all the answer in this thread and found that there were several users who described the same problem. But no solution was mentioned here. Overall, this guide is useless for me but that does not mean that the guide is useless for everyone.
And then I do not have to be told that I should read something I've read more than 20 times. Or that I should search even more after 8 hours of searching.

OK, can you post a screen shot of ODIN after the failure?
Also what extension does the file have after downloading it?

file extension is ".tar"
From my Galaxy S9 i know that when i download the files from the official TWRP website, the name is "xxx.img.tar" So i tried to change the name of your file into "twrp.img.tar" and download it, but still the same problem

Everything looks normal to me, so the issue must be your side.
Isn't there another pc you can use? Also is your antivirus software disabled?
