So what is /mnt/sdcard? Is it the microSD or is it the internal storage (or internal SD?)

In /mnt isn't anything like /emmc ...

Sorry first time HTC Legend (for a friend of me) :p

Yes /mnt/sdcard is the external micro sdcard. It is also the same as /sdcard. I hope this is clear enough for you.

Did you rename the recovery file to update.zip?
Also, make sure you downloaded the correct file for s-on.

Mmm.. did i missed anything?
Bcoz i did follow your instruction on the OP..
Then this is the result..

Code:
C:\ADB-Windows>fastboot flash recover recovery_legend_5.0.2.8.img
   sending 'recover' (3136 KB)... OKAY [ 0.418s]
             writing 'recover'... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 1.063s

Check the command you typed and make sure it is correct, what you put in your post is not correct as you did not type "recovery" correct you typed "recover" instead.
Also I think you might need to check the name of the img file and locaton.

sorry to ask noob question.. not touched my legend for a year so relearning everything!! :)

I unlocked the bootloader via HTC Dev.. no problem..

Used HTC super tool v3 which 'said' i got root access although titanium backup still not getting superuser access via superuser app??

my status is still S-ON..

Please confrim I can use the S-OFF process as my bootloader is unlocked?

1.Where do I put the .img file?? is there a fastboot folder on my phone? or does this mean on my PC?? (I have all sdk tools installed but cant find a fastboot folder)

2. Is there a way I can double check i already have root access?

thanks for any advice.. I have a galaxy s2 so spend all my time learning the tricks for that :D

Nevermind, figured it out :) So, for anyone else doing this who is as dumb as me.

>You just need the .img folder in the same location on you pc as the Android SDK fastboot files...
>change the directory in the terminal to the same,
>make sure your device is in fastboot mode connected to the pc with usb debugging enabled and recognised by the pc.
>The you can just use the flash command to flash a new recovery :D awesome :D

Yep renamed to update.zip and put on sdcard

Followed the steps in OP...
but in Android Recovery it keeps sayin: "Failed to verify whole file signature" and then "signature verification failed"

Even tried it with another Fake-Flash CWM (3.x something I think) but exactly the same...

Is it right that I can use this method with stock - unrooted - S-ON - HBOOT 1.00

Or am I stupid

I just want to install a custom ROM with this temporary CWM....
Everything with unlocking and rooting is too much - becoz I don´t have a PC in the moment

I just got a Legend from my brother (he upgraded to a One X) so I'm quite new to the device (I've been using a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 and some tablets up until now).

I was able to unlock the boatloader following the htcdev site instructions and then was able to root using the SuperTool. I enabled usb debugging and tried the S-OFF method with both 5.0.2.0 and 5.0.2.8 images.

Here comes the interesting part. I am able to go into recovery however when I try to select any of the options I am not getting anything just the hat logo in the middle and a black screen. I remember from the Galaxy S that when I choose wipe data/factory reset or wipe cache then I need to confirm this on the next screen. Also there are some menuitems (like advanced, mounts and storage) that have submenus. Now these are not showing up at all.

Basically this makes me unable to factory reset or wipe the device or to load any roms...

Does anyone have an idea what I'm missing here?

Cheers,
Peter

Hey Guys! I have a problem here

My phone is now rooted, but I'm not sure if properly done so. Because when trying to apply the update.zip it tells me the following:
failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Instalation aborted.

I've tried 5020 and 5028 and both won't work. Any help?

edit: solved :)

Ok, same reply as always, are u htcdev boot loader unlocked? If you are, you can't use update.zip you have to follow the s-off method....

Sent from my Legend using xda app-developers app
My bootloader is unlocked, and I try to use s-on and s-off method without success.
When recovery lauch It say : " E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command"
