I flashed the recovery for s-off

Why ROM manager ask to download and install recovery? What should I do?
you can do it...it won't change anythig, you'll stay with 5.0.2.8.,although rom manager wil think it's 5.0.2.0. but i have a better question, why use rom manager?
if you know how to use the recovery, it's far better than using rom manager, imo.

My phone has these details:
*** LOCKED (OOW) ***
LEGEND PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-1.02.0000
MICROP-0816
TOUUCH PANEL-SYN07_0105
RADIO-7.13.35.05
Dec 23 2011,16:36:48

When I go to apply the S-ON update.zip, there's an eroor that says E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command but it lets me continue, and then when it gets to verifying the update package it spits out the same error that was mentioned ealier in this thread:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

Any idea what's wrong, or what I can try?

Your bootloader isn't unlocked yet. You've got 1.02 which makes me think you've started the unlock process but haven't completed it. Go back to HTCdev and look for the next steps in the process. Once you have it'll say **UNLOCKED** in your bootloader. When this is done you can apply CWM via the S-OFF method in the OP.

Oh dear, I would have thought the word "locked" would be the first clue that something isn't right, too many others have this same issue.

Tried HTCDev again, managed to get the code this time, so now my bootloader's unlocked, yay!

Only when I do the thing in the OP and go to apply the update.zip I'm still getting the second error I mentioned:

E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

The first one's gone though, so I guess that's progress...

Like I said, tried to apply update.zip, as detailed in the S-OFF method detailed in the OP.

(Actually, I tried it again and it said E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command again; I guess I might have missed that last time.)

Someone in another thread advised me to try the S-ON method, no dice with that either - same error:

E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

ADB no devices

Hello,

I am now trying for hours to flash this image on my legend :(
It seems that the adb drivers are not installed correctly.

I have installed HTC Sync
Android SDK -> platform Tools, Google USB drivers

After that I plugged the Legend the first time in.

I´ve done the bootloader thing from HTCDev.
And now Iam trying to get the Clockwork Recovery Mod.

But when i restart the HTC Legend in the Bootloader(Power + Volume down) my computer can´t find drivers and in the device manager is a 'Android 1.0' with an attention sign.
So when I type 'adb devices' in the command window, I get no entry in the list :(

When I am in the fastboot mode, I get 'Android USB Devices' -> 'My HTC' in the device manager.
Now I type again 'adb devices' and again no device in the list.
I also tried 'adb reboot bootloader' , but then i get the 'error: device not found' message.

When the device is normally booted, I get an entry in the list when I type 'adb devices'.

What do i make wrong?
Can any1 please help me =)

sry for my bad english.
with kind regards,
Veidi

Goto Google do a search for android 1.0 drivers, download and install the drivers make sure they are the real thing too and not fake.

Ok, and how do I know what are real drivers and what are fake ones?

I am totally new to android, this is my first device with it.:fingers-crossed:

Ok I now downloaded and installed the PDA Net drivers.
Then I booted the legend again to the bootloader, waited for the SD card things and plugged the USB cable in.
Now windows found an 'Android 1.0' driver in the windows update.
In the device manager I now get 'Android Device -> Android ADB Interface'.

Then I switch to fastboot mode (I get 'Android USB Devices -> My HTC' in the device manager now) and type 'adb devices' and again there i no entry in the list.
The command 'adb reboot bootloader' doesn´t work either. :(

Every time when I boot into recovery, it always show up the older Clockwork 3.01.2 (It had an even older version before I got S-OFF) and every time I had to manually apply update.zip to use the latest Clockwork (5.0.2.0).

Thanks for this simple tutorial, now my Clockwork is truely up to date :)

I don't mean to be rude but did you actually root your phone? With your bootloader version I believe you can get true s-off instead of using the HTC unlock tool.

ADB won't work in Fastboot, use fastboot devices instead...
