Easiest way I did was after rooting I installed twrp. Then I flashed shabby's recovery from TWRP, then rebooted into the cwm recovery. It has worked flawlessly so I am extremely grateful for shabby's work.

MF3 Is the one for Safestrap that's the one bootlooter is locked!
Hi,

Yes. It is. But I found out and using it because I can have my favorite ROM "Graviton" as my stock rom. I now use the slot one to check out another ROM such as Deadly Venom. Because I'm MDL, I have to choose only certain ROMs like TW Roms that works with my kernel. My kernel is protected in the stock rom. In the safe trap forum. It was given a list of Roms for us with MDL to use.
So I tried Deadly Venom, it's beautiful, fast but 0 wifi for me. So I just clicked back over to "Graviton". I only use 1 slot even though they have more.
So later I will delete Deadly Venon from that slot. I have the zip on my ext sd if I want it again. I will probably look at the Infamous ROM. Either way, I will have a working phone.
I'm reading so much. I know I can just flash using TWRP. But since I paid full price for my S4. I'm a little cautious. The husband will have a fit if I messed up my phone.
Even right now, I hear "Are you messing with your phone again." When I showed him how I protected "Graviton". He was happy.
I'm studying with this site every day. So I'm happy. I can't believe what I absorb so far. This just started out as a journey for one good phone that I can use for a number of years and to get out of the upgrade drama from regular phone companies.

When you Flashed Deadly Venom in Safestrap you needed to flash the Modules that Hash added to his thread so basically lots that are on Safestrap as of now a few

has Deadly Venom with Wifi working cause after they flashed rom they flashed the Modules Hash added in his Post!

Hi,

So I just follow Phoneguy589"s direction from TWRP? There won't be a conflict from the Safe strap app? I will still have "Graviton" protected in Safe strap and now I will have Shabby Penguins recovery also.

Hi Ms.K another thing is that Safestrap uses up lots of your Internal sdcard Space, So basically Safestrap was made for those that have a cell phone that came with

Firmware MF3 since only MDL Can have Custom Recovery to flash roms no Disrespect but you really don't need Safestrap if your on Firmware MDL.

+1 to what venom had said. If your device came with the mdl firmware and you haven't updated to MF3 via the OTA update. Whatever recovery you choose to stay with, TWRP or CWM, make a backup immediately because the TWRP backups cannot be used by cwm and vice versa.

To galan. I'm using it to check out roms without bricking my phone. My stock rom graviton wont be touched. I was able to check out deadly venom rom then switched back to my graviton rom. For example. I'm studying this site all the time. I only use 1 slot. So internal memory is still ok for me. It's nice to test out a ROM this way.

Since some users are asking. The reason some of us on MDL boot loader phones use safestrap is simple, extra rom slots to test other ROMs. I have MF3 based rom as main and use the other slots for the newer ROMs on the i9505.

Other than that, there's no reason for other users on non mf3 to use safestrap as their main recovery.

I think I missed a step. I've been reading this thread. But I must have missed something. I'm using the .4 version since the md5 code was correct. I'm using post 293 for directions. Ok. I flash with TWRP. Then I get a odin screen where it asks me whether I want ti reboot, wipe or install from exsd card. Since I already chose my zip. I chose reboot and I back to my main screen. Blush. I hope someone in the grouo can help

Did you reboot into your rom? Rght before you power on your phone hold the volume up button and the home button as it is powering on until it boots into your recovery. This is the method to boot into either Twrp or cwm. If you have a power menu in your rom, you can choose reboot then choose recovery and if will power down and reboot into your recovery.
