Please do some research about custom recovery before anything! You will have first to have fully working twrp in order to flash this recovery.



• Download link :

  • OrangeFox-Unofficial-starlte-r1.1.2_fox.zip for S9 :
    - Mega
    - GDrive
  • OrangeFox-Unofficial-star2lte-r1.1.2_fox.zip for S9+ :
    - Mega
    - GDrive
• Guide : Go to twrp, flash the zip, enjoy!


• Device tree :

• Kernel source : -

• OrangeFox source : OrangeFox

• Known bugs :

  • No data decryption
  • If you face error like "Unable to mount /system_root" or any related to system partition mounting when flashing zip file(s), go to settings, general, check "Reboot to recovery without SAR mount", it will reboot to recovery when flash the zip(s) again.

  • User friendly UI
  • Based on latest TWRP
  • F2FS support
  • Lot of useful file manager features (uncompress, compress, display text files, ...)
  • Built-in support for installing/removing Magisk and managing installed modules

Release 1.0.1 :
  • Added system/vendor/odm backup as image option
  • Updated magisk

Release 1.0.2 :
  • Added a fix for errors related to system mount, see bug section above

Release 1.1.0 :
  • Updated to newest OrangeFox R11.0, based on twrp 3.4.0.0 and including lot of improvements from OrangeFox team thanks to them
  • Synced latest kernel sources (ETG3/4.9.232)
  • Updated crosscompilers to Clang 11 and GCC 10.2.0

Release 1.1.1 :
  • Fixed boot issue after splash screen customization (Thanks to @[email protected] for pointing it out!)
  • Synced to latest linux kernel sources (4.9.233)


  • Last release
Release 1.1.2 :
  • Synced to latest OrangeFox and samsung + linux kernel sources (4.9.257)

I tested this out but went back to standard TWRP for now. My main issue is No System Image choice to back up. Just System. I know that recently restoring a backup required using System Image and NOT system.
Thoughts from all here reading this.

Hey

Humm there is no requirement to backup as image.
Maybe with old twrp release but not with this build.

Btw I can add it with next update

I can't remember when this became an issue, but if you could include system image as one of the choices, would appreciate it. Maybe others could chime in on this exact issue. Thanks.....also, I noticed earlier Magisk 20.3 referenced instead of current 20.4.

Btw, doesn't this recovery support adopted storage? I cannot seem to access files from internal storage properly, while TWRP did show them. Also MTP doesn't work. My computer doesn't even recognize the device when plugged in.
