[Recovery][T580] Official TWRP for Galaxy Tab A 10.1 WiFi 2016 (gtaxlwifi)

Search This thread
I have the 8.1 stock rom atm, i had to factory reset because of dislike in a the resurrection remix rom, I can get Odin to flash twrp, I'm using the 3.3.1.0-gtaxlwifi version at the moment, but when I do so all I get after booting is lines from the top of my screen to the bottom and it won't boot into the system or recovery afterwards, i can only boot into download mode. Any advice is appreciated, thank you.
Apparently there have been reports of difficulties with the 3.3.1.0 version of TWRP especially on the T585. Use TWRP 3.2.3-2. Your issues sound familiar: won't boot to system (actually that's a bootloop), won't boot to recovery (do you get redirected to somewhere else that has a blue field with writting in the upper left corner?), there are two scenarios here that I know of. One is Custom Binaries Blocked by FRP Lock, the other I can't define. Download mode is accessable but not usable. If this sounds familiar you are in an FRP Lock situation. This is not the FRP that is related to the Google Account. The first one I can correct, the other I'm still working on.

@ashyx

As I can see you are a tw God so....

Maybe you could help me to get twrp working on the p580 Oreo. I tried some methods but I always got some problems like no external and internal SD or I have to format data every time I boot into twrp.
I was using your build for the t580 and switched files from the p580 kernel.
Maybe you can give me instructions what I can do :D
Thanks.

TWRP restore : failed to mount '/system'

Hello,
I have a Galaxy Tab A 2016 SM-T585
I have used ODIN to flash your [2x1]MOD_SM-T585XXS6CTC3_with_twrp-3.3.1-1-gtaxllte_and_patched_boot_with_disabled+dm-verity,+forced+encryption+disabled_without_CSC : no problem.
I have installed magisk 20.4 : no problem.
I have made a backup : no problem.
Then I tried to restore this backup : it ended with "Failed to mount '/system' (invalid argument)" and "No OS installed".
What should I do ? Thank you for your advice

Hello
I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1" (SM-T580) & I want to delete/remove some apps from it that are Built-In & don't have a removal choice. I was directed to this page & instructions. But when I click on the links http://teamw.in/devices/samsunggalax...1wifi2016.html & https://idlekernel.com/flash-tools;
I get: "This site can’t be reached teamw.in took too long to respond." & "This site can’t be reached idlekernel.com refused to connect."
This happened on both my desktop computer & Samsung tablet :(. Does anyone know how I can proceed?

Oh could someone help me please? I maked a hughe stupid failure. I have also the SM-T550 and the SM-T580. And yes you know it. I have flashed the SM-550 TWRP to the SM-T580 tablet. It''s now stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 logo and does nothing more. USB detect nothing. If i force reboot with putting down volume up, volume down and power it reboots but when i quickly switch to hold only volume down or up and home to got into recovery nothing will happen... So it looks lke it''s not complete death but i don''t know how to fix this. I read somewhere about a USB JIG cable. Could that maybe help??

Thank you all in advanced to help me!

Use fastboot mode and flash the right recovery via odin.

Use fastboot mode and flash the right recovery via odin.

Fastboot was also impossible. USB did nothing on the tablet only charge.

But... good news! The battery was complete drained because it could switch off. Then when i plugged in to the wall i hold down the buttons and voila it was in bootloader. Even maked a jig connector because it shutsdown again and hangs on the same screen. Jig connector also worked and start in bootloader also. Flashed the correct twrp and booted the official rom! So a jig conector/cable is a must to have. You could make one by yourself from a old micro-usb cable but could be difficult to make. For a few bucks you have one from china. you could also buy a micro usb 5 pin header. you just need than to add a 301KOhm resistor between pin 4 and pin 5 (ground).

Hi;

SM-T580 new CHN rom already installed. OEM unlock enabled. But my install failed. Twrp not works with the latest official Bootloader.
Same problem, I have a device with a Chinese regional ROM (bit 6) and it's the only ROM with bit [6] security therefore the only way I can get google play services is through TWRP then Open Gapps but during the odin installation it says bootloader locked!
Any help?

This is for the Exynos WiFi SM-T580 model only!

WARNING: Flashing a custom recovery to your device will trip the Knox warranty bit on your phone. Check with your retailer to see if they will still cover warranty on Knox bit triggered devices. If you understand this risk, continue on.

WHAT IS TWRP?

Oh come on, you know what it is - don't try to fool me!
In case you're serious, though...

Team Win Recovery Project is a custom recovery for Android devices.
It allows you to back up and restore your data, flash custom ROMs to your device, repair broken file systems, and root your device.

DOWNLOAD

You can find the device page here:
http://teamw.in/devices/samsunggalaxytaba101wifi2016.html

There is a download link there, as well as instructions on how to flash it.

I highly recommend using Odin to flash when possible.
You can find a zip containing Odin as well as a link to Samsung's Mobile drivers page here:
https://idlekernel.com/flash-tools/

FULL STEPS FOR OBTAINING ROOT

  1. In your ROM, go to Settings -> About device. Tap 7 times on Build number to enable Developer options.
    Transparent.gif
  2. Now go to Settings -> Developer options. (above About device)
You need to enable OEM unlock, otherwise you might end up with boot problems or be unable to flash later on.
    Transparent.gif
  3. Make sure your don't have Factory Reset Protection enabled in your Google account or you may never be able to boot again!
    More information: https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/6172890?hl=en
    Transparent.gif
  4. Extract Odin_3.12.3.zip to your computer.
    Transparent.gif
  5. Install Samsung Mobile Phone Drivers for Odin to find your device.
    Transparent.gif
  6. Download a .tar image of TWRP for gtaxlwifi.
    Transparent.gif
  7. Reboot your device into Download mode. To do this, select reboot from the power menu and hold the [Volume Down] + [Home] buttons while your device reboots.
Once you reach the Download mode warning screen, press [Volume Up] to continue.
    Transparent.gif
  8. Open Odin and place that TWRP tar file in the [AP] slot, under Options tab disable Auto Reboot, then press [Start].
    Transparent.gif
  9. Once the flash is complete (Odin should tell you in the log, and progress bar on phone should stop), you can hold [Volume Up] + [Home] + [Power] buttons until you reach recovery mode.
If you end up in stock recovery, start again from download mode step.
    Transparent.gif
  10. At this point, you will reach the screen asking you if you want to allow system modifications.
You will want to swipe to allow, otherwise the OS will replace TWRP once you boot!
    Transparent.gif
  11. If you want to be rooted with SuperSU:
Download the latest SuperSU by Chainfire.
Without exiting TWRP, transfer the SuperSU zip to your device over MTP* and flash it using [Install] in TWRP.
    Transparent.gif
  12. Go to [Reboot] -> [System].
* MTP, known as Media Transfer Protocol, is the same way you transfer files from your PC to your device when booted into system.

Is there a way to keep "Data" encryption turned off? I saw on a few other Exynos device TWRP threads there is a "dm-verity and force encryption disabler" does that help?
    This may work for you.

Install the zip with TWRP, FORMAT DATA(Not wipe!)
    Check DATA can be mounted.

Reboot to TWRP, check DATA is still mountable.

    BOOT IMAGE PATCHER
Boot image patcher to remove DM-verity and Forced encryption.
Flash the zip below with TWRP.

This was built by jcadduono not me, so props to him, I just modified it to work for this device and to remove the SEANDROID ENFORCING message.

NOTE: IF YOU INTEND TO ROOT THEN FLASH THIS AFTER SUPERSU.

    Thanks for this work!

I managed to flash and boot into TWRP recovery but i have partition problem :
    "failed to mount data"
"internal storage is listed as 0MB"

EDIT2: As mentionned by @jcadduono , there is a simpler method than mine :
BTW you can just flash TWRP and use the [Format Data] button on wipe page which will do the same thing, making data available (but completely wiped, including internal storage!!!)

EDIT3: use@ashyx' patch to remove encryption:
