Sorry if this has already been covered, but I don't understand why I cannot install TWRP 2.7.0 directly. Isn't it possible to dd my aboot.img, patch TWRP 2.7.0 recovery.img with loki_patch and then flash the resulting recovery.lok with loki_flash? Is it mandatory to install first the recovery.lok according to my firmware version V50010x?

I just bought the gpad and I'm trying to understand this process before going through it. I also made the mistake of updating through OTA and now I have firmware V50010b, before I had V50010a. In case I cannot install TWRP 2.7.0 directly, can I install the recovery V50010a version on my V50010b?

yes you can loki patch 2.7.0.0 for your device and then flash with loki flash
or you can just loki flash V50010a then flash 2.7.0.0 in recovery (a and b have the same aboot.img)

Thanks for this, installed without issue, however...

Was just going to do a backup and noticed that I do not have an option to backup the recovery partition. Honestly, I can't say whether or not I had this option before I upgraded. I see Boot, System, Data and Cache but no Recovery??? I believe I am suppose to have this option. Any ideas why this might not be showing up?

Ok, I just reflashed TWRP using the version at this link and it gave me back the option to backup the Recovery partition. Thus I think there may be a problem / options missing from the version on this thread.

thanks for pointing it out
apparently I needed to add a flag for that in 2.7 (did by default in earlier versions)
anyway I'll upload a new build ** edit uploaded link in OP

personally I see no need to back up recovery, but to each their own

+1
You don't have any important information you saved in the recovery (besides some minor adjustments) plus if your recovery is broken you can't restore the backup...
BTW, installed 2.7.0.0 via flashify, works great! Thanks a lot!

I didn't try for the Gpad, but the 2.7.0.0 I built for the Nabi2 didn't have the option to back up recovery and if you backed up anything the recovery got backed up as well. i.e any backup operation also backed up recovery. Do a backup without selecting recovery(now that option is there) and see if there is a recovery.win, might be built in to TWRP to always backup recovery(which seems excessive since I like the rest of you think backing up the recovery isn't necessary)

So, just to clarify, If I want to update to the 2.7.0.0 from 2.6.3.2, do I need to adb push the loki file first, or can I just use the 2.7.0.0 flashable file directly with TWRP (or Flashify)?

Never checked specifically but you are correct in that I do see recovery.win include in the backups. I think it was just that I had installed TWRP from a different thread that had the recovery option originally and then when I updated to 2.7 noticed it was missing. Guess won't have to worry about it going forward. Thanks again.
