if you are rooted go with step 3 from this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698267 and after that just update to 2.8.0.0 from OP.

Make sure to edit runme.bat from zip file for your build version , replace V50020a in it with V50020d

I messed up something so this method first didn't work. With B2C App i repaired upgrade error (simply flashed new firmware), rooted with iroot25, renamed the zip for 20d and flashed the recovery all works now, thank you :)

Sounds like some people are reporting issues with this version. Does it offer any major advantages over TWRP 2.7.1.0? I don't like to take chances with a recovery installation, so I'm inclined to wait until it's working without problems. What's the story from people who are using it?

2.8.0.0 from OP, give you a slow boot in recovery. 2.8.0.1 from TWRP site give you "palaman error" on CM 11 update from Android, boot times are good. If you have a full nandroid backup you can try 2.8.0.0 or 2.8.0.1 without worry . With restore from backup you get also you actual recovery image, in your case 2.7.1.0

I have read the first post my problem is that I keep falling down the rabbit hole. I'll try and explain and I hope someone can help.

I am on 4.4.2 50020d so I read and it says if I don't have twrp follow link and go to step 3.

I download the v50020_aboot_twrp_v2.zip and the instructions say to extract and run runme.bat (but the instructions on that post say it is for v50020a)

So what do I run for v50020d

I have done this with other devices but none of them have been this "all over the place "

Just flash the recovery image with flashfy and the flash .zip from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52910560

No dice ...it wouldn't boot into recovery after I used flashify
Probably, I think you need custom recovery for flashify to work. Use the method in the OP. My advice was geared toward flashing twrp with your current base and change the base later. I understand the screen will be dimmer till you change the base but it won't be too dim that you wouldn't able to use recovery to flash different base. So flash recovery and then change the base. Download the base zip first.

you need to edit runme.bat , change v50020a to v50020d . save. run and follow instructions.

---------- Post added at 01:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:04 PM ----------

and to go in recovery after succesfuly running runme.bat you can use combo from power + vol down .....….. use search for exact combo

i need help. i used TWRP 2.6.3.2 to flash a rom but something happened and i can't boot into android. everytime the device powers on it goes into twrp. unfortunately for me for some reason this version of twrp won't read any micro sd cards i insert into it. is it possible to use adb on windows to flash a newer version of twrp so i can go back to the stock rom? if so how? adb does not recognize it when i enter adb devices. can anyone guide me towards the right direction, i'm at a loss at what to do to get my tablet up and running again.

Help please.

I got my Gpad 8.3 (not the GPE) yesterday and I used the batch scripts out there to do a loki hack and I did install a version 2.6 of TWRP recovery which is working fine. I picked that method as it seemed to get thumbs-up works posts, albeit an old version of TWRP recovery.

I would though like to move to the most recent TWRP a 2.7 or better 2.8 because I'm sure some things I want to with custom ROMs and filesystems in the future will need newer TWRP.

I'm nervous though simply booting into recovery, my current 2.6 TWRP recovery, and flashing a newer recovery.

What is the newest recovery image I can install, should I flash it in recovery or use adb command?

adb reboot-bootloader
sudo fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

FYI my non-Android USB system is Ubuntu, so I've been copy/paste typing the commands from the Window scripts.

Just flash this from recovery. The link is also in the OP
