Sadly, no ... flashify just uses your builtin recovery to do the flashing, it seems -- not much use if your inbuilt recovery doesn't work :(

I've also tried CM's flash_image via wireless ADB (the only way I've managed to get adb working), but that gives me a very imformative "failed with error: -1" on the recovery img files I've tried so far ... :(

Any other thoughts? Really don't want to have to go through the whole LG software restore and root again (if I can even remember how to do it after all this time ...!)

Update: Flashify doesn't work, but Rasher does. However, now I need a recovery.img file that works (I've tried TWRP's official one, but that still won't boot -- I get a "boot certification verify" error on the boot screen) ...
Update: Fixed! Followed the instructions on the CWM page for flashing recovery.img via loki_tool through ADB -- worked a charm. :)

Using a Terminal Emulator, you should be able to patch the recovery.img (to create recovery.lok) and also install it through loki_tool. Take a look at the CWM thread in this section which has step by step instructions for doing this.
Thanks, that's exactly the way to to it, and it all worked out fine :) However, it might be useful if the OP in this thread had the same information printed, or at least a link -- it was only by accident that I checked the CWM thread.

(Given the number of different TWRP recoveries, I'm surely not the only one who'll make this mistake!)

I used this method with the 2.8.1.0 awifi file from the TWRP site (doing the whole loki_tool creating of the recovery.lok file and installing it) and got 2.8.1.0 running. Thanks for the info, guys!
You might run into some trouble when performing upgrades when using 2.8.1.0 from the official TWRP site because their file is actually for the v510 Google Play Edition. If your device is a v500, then you might get an error when upgrading cyanogen stating that your device is a palman.

You can fix this by just installing a new recovery that was built for v500.

I think 2.8.0.0 is the latest version I've seen that is posted in these forums. Hopefully, the OP will post an update soon, but, 2.8.0.0 in this thread seems to work fine.

I got this LG G Pad 8.3 4.4.2 V500 (rooted and busybox installed) this week. My device informations are KOT49I.V50020d because this is d versio there seems to be some problems with these custom recoverys. Im not yet sure which rom i will go. Pacman and Slim are looking good so possibly some of them.

Question is which i should install CWM or TWRP? And please give complete guide how to do it because both treads seems to be full of diffrent answers about that. If i go with TWRP should i install the newest version of it?

Do you want some hot cocoa? Someone to rub your feet? There are many threads dealing with this. This forum has a Q&A section and XDA has a search function. I would start there.

Trying to install this on my friend's new 4.2.2 Gpad v500, and having some problems. Following the OP instructions perfectly, but when we try the ADB commands it doesn't register ADB.

I'm assuming that the loki-master folder & the adb folder need to be combined somehow, but could someone please chime in and help.

Thanks.

I've seen the steps related to adb push. Just go to the adb folder and use this command:
adb push [path_to_twrp.lok] /data/local/tmp

For instance, let's say I have the twrp.lok file in d:\Mobile\LG\Recovery. I would use this command to flash the recovery:
adb push d:\Mobile\LG\Recovery\twrp.lok /data/local/tmp

This applies to the second step too, the one that copies loki_tool. The guide assumes that the lok recovery file is in the bin folder of loki and that you have went there beforehand.
